Acer laptops are equipped with a BIOS utility. The BIOS (which stands for "Basic Input Output System") acts as an interface between the hardware and software installed on the computer. On some computers, a BIOS password may be required in order to boot the computer and make changes to the BIOS settings. If you are unable to access the BIOS settings and do not know how to reset the BIOS password, you might be tempted to send the computer back to the manufacturer for repair. Fortunately, that's not necessary as there is a simple way to do this on your own.

Go to "Start," then perform a search for "Command Prompt." The Windows Start button is located in the lower-left corner of your computer screen. Double-click on "Command Prompt" to open the application. You will need to use MS-DOS commands to reset the BIOS password. Type the following commands one by one in the order shown: debug o 70 2E o 71 FF quit Make sure that you are typing the letter "o" and not a zero at the beginning of the second and third commands. Reboot your computer by clicking "Start," "Shutdown," and then "Restart." The BIOS password will now be reset to default. or To get into your computer's Basic Input-Output System (BIOS), your computer must be on, but your operating system cannot be running. If the Microsoft Windows operating system has even started to load, you will not be able to access your BIOS. This is why getting into the BIOS on an Acer Aspire netbook computer must be done specifically during your computer's initial boot-up sequence, which happens immediately after pressing the power button on the device.

Turn on your Acer Aspire. Press and hold the "Ctrl" key. Press and hold the "Alt" key. Press and hold the "Esc" key. This key combination will open the BIOS on your Acer Aspire.

You don't have a web-cam on your Acer Aspire 5532. Sorry, I actually bought a brand new Acer Aspire 5532 with Windows 7. It's really nice but that little black circle at the top of your screen is not a camera. I do believe you can have one installed though.

Good luck,

I found a place to record video in Microsoft Office OneNote. There is a tab in the toolbar that is a very small icon for a video camera right after the "clip" tab. I randomly found it one night.

You may need to roll back system with System Restore. Under Safe Mode (press F8 during boot and choose Safe Mode). Now got to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Restore. Now choose a date prior to problem. You may have to try a few dates.

Try uninstall last program(s) that was installed, again in safe mode.

Run a thorough virus check. Then try System File Checker. It finds and replaces corrupted system files. This requires a Windows XP disc. Go to Start > run > type cmd ENTER. At command prompt type sfc / scannow ENTER.

Re-install Windows. Clean install works best, but all data will be lost.

Hello. If you gently push on the LCD display panel, and these lines clear up, the display, or cables going to it are either bad or loose. These units use ribbon cables that simply plug in and are locked down. If they become loose, you pushing on the display may cause the unit to work temporarily.

Acer uses its own program called Crystal Eye to run its webcam. If you don't have it, go to Toshiba support drivers and put your model of laptop in the search box and then pick your operating system and it will give you a menu of the available drivers and applications for your system. You need this program to work the integrated webcam.
