My computer will turn on for a couple of minuets

I would suspect that the CMOS battery will need replacing to start with. Also It would probably need a "Refresh" of the Hard Dive, you should do a Defragment, to start, Do this from Safe Mode, press F8 at boot up. While in safe mode see if it still freezes up, you can still use the PC as usual in Safe Mode. Also remove the Battery and just run off wall adapter, see if this makes any difference? It may be freezing due to the Hard Disc.

Computer has no sound

Check your audio properties to make sure the volume is turned up and not on mute. Click Start/Control Panel or Start/Settings Control Panel and look for Audio or Sound in the control panel. Open it and check the volume and check to make sure the sound is not on mute.Check in the device manager to make sure all your drivers are loaded an working properly. If not download and install them from hp's website.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "HP Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Audio drivers.

Try using the VLC Player. It comes with drivers and codec. I've seen it solve many sound and audio issues.

Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Download and install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It's a very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formats and media. It's totally FREE.

My pc switches off on

Switch ON the PC, boot the PC in 'Safe Mode' by continuously tapping F8 button after you switch On until you get the Safe Mode Option.

Let windows boot in Safe Mode and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->Click 'System Restore'

A 'System Restore' window will appear.

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next

Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '<' sign in the upper left hand corner of the Month Calendar and select any date that you see in Bold.

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved.

My **** hp dv8000 makes

A laptop has become a very convenient and mobile way to stay connected with work, to communicate with peers, to research, to take notes and to do just about anything related to computing. However, when the convenient laptop gets noisy, it is an irritation to everyone. The noise maker in a laptop is almost always the fan, and it can be fixed by cleaning or replacing.

1.Unplug the laptop and remove the battery. Of course, you don't want to do this until you have shut down any programs that were open and shut down your computer normally. Be on the lookout for static electricity--don't touch other electrical devices while you are doing this and touch something metallic to discharge any static from your body before toughing the inside of the laptop.

2.Remove the screws that cover the back of the computer. This will differ from laptop to laptop, depending on your make and model. Set the screws aside and lift the cover off. You should be able to see the small square fan that cools your laptop. If you have had your computer running for a while, there may still be some rather hot components, so be careful.

3.Inspect the fan for a buildup of dust. If you can see obvious debris in the way, use a small vacuum hose to **** the dirt out of the area. Be very careful not to get too rough, as the inside of the laptop is fragile.

4.Remove the fan if there is no obvious buildup. This usually means unscrewing it and undoing the wiring. Write down the information on the fan such as the part number and serial number to order a new one. You may find one in your local computer parts store.

5.Install the new fan in the reverse order of how your removed the old fan. Screw everything back together and put the back cover on. Replace the battery pack and plug the laptop in. The new fan should run smoothly and quietly.

I hope it helps.

When I unplug the power

Normally the screen will dim when you UNPLUG the power cord. Is that what you are experiencing?

That is quite normal and is a feature designed to lengthen battery life when the machine is not connected to mains power.

In any case you can adjust the screen brightness. To do this you should be able to use the function keys together with the Fn button. You should find two function keys (along the top of the keyboard) that have symbos like a sun and a Plus sign and a Minus sign on them. Press the Fn key (bottom left on the keyboard probably) and then tap the 'sun +' key to brighten the screen.

Hope this helps. If not, please respond with a comment and I will give further details.

The screen brightness changes due to plug in or battery power

This is quite common actually I see it a lot. There really isn't any reason, it seems that when on batteries it trys to save power by Dimming Down, but it often just mucks up.. I always now set it via the keyboard keys. whenever I change from power adapter, to battery.

I bought an HP Pavillion zv6000 on Ebay and the

hello

PN494AV is the part number -- please verify this on the baclk of your notebook
BOTTOM OF PAGE IS A VIDEO ON HOW TO DO THIS --

if so, the keyboard (US English) p/n 383664-001 . This is for HP Pavilion zv6000 (PN494AV) CTO FF Notebook . call LAPTOP PARTS, phone [949]-878-9501, USA they have it for about $20-$30

i would suggest getting this notebook to a qualified technician. Otherwise, if you think you are bale to replace it (it's fairly simple), save some money and DIY (do it yourself) .

here are the instructions HOW TO Remove the keyboard
first shut down system, unplu power cord, remove the battery from compartment

In the battery compartment you'll find three screws securing the HP Pavilion zv6000 keyboard to the laptop base. Remove these three screws.

Carefully lift up the top side of the keyboard as it shown on the picture below. There are small plastic latches securing the keyboard on both side but they should't be a problem. Do not lift up the keyboard too much, it's still connected to the motherboard.

Set the keyboard so you can access the cable connector underneath. You'll have to unlock the connector before you can release the cable and remove the keyboard.

Carefully lift up the keyboard. Disconnect the keyboard from the motherboard . remove old keyboard and replace with the one you bought.
WARNING! Be very careful with the connector. Lift the tab, as it releases the connection. You cannot replace the connector if you accidentally break it. The connector is permanently attached to the motherboard. If it's broken, the whole motherboard has to be replaced.

here is a video for a DV6000 series, same concept -- to give you the idea on how it's done

please rate me 4 thumbs up
