You may want to call Sony and inquire about the issue. If your button is broken, and the console won't turn on, you may either have it plugged in a power socket that doesn't have any power, the switch on the back may be turned off, or your console may be defective. Ensure that there's power, and the switch is on (the I should be pressed in, and the O should be facing outwards) before contacting Sony.

Most likely a power issue with the CD Drive - the best option would be to send it in, especially if it is under an extended warranty - Or to shop around for a new drive and replace it yourself.

try tutyr turning the diagnosis on and off in the version section under console , you need to turn the ps2 on without a disk in or with the tray open.

This is a common problem with slimline PS2's.

The problem you have got is that the lens unit has failed so it can't read any disks. You will have to take the console to a repair store to have the lens unit replaced. The cost should be around $40 or £20.

Bring up a screen where the unit asks you to enter in the parental code. You can either insert a restricted disc, or enter the DVD setup menu and go to "parental control" under custom setup.

When the screen asks for the code, press the SELECT button, then enter in the code "7444".

The level adjustment under Parental Control dictates the strictness of the player. The lower the value, the more strict it will be. Either increase the value to lower the restriction, or disable the lock entirely by setting it to "off".

Once you have made your adjustments, be sure that the DVD tray is empty, and press the RESET button on the front of the Playstation 2. It is imperative the tray is clear of any DVD or game for the unit to save your settings.

your tray is unalined needs fixing but sometimes alittle electrical great works on the gears plus the belt might be bad you can buy a new one on ebay for a dollar..

here are some possible steps that you could do for the issue that you are having with the ps2

- try to perform a power cycle by pressing the power button while the computer is off and no power connected to it
- try to clean the lens and disc
- make sure that teeth or gold teeth on the memory cards are clean
