Very easy answer! Your door is not seated all of the way. I assume you resolved it by now, but anyone else who searches this issue may need this advice. The doors warp as they age so it may seem seated when it is not. The TV will not turn on without the door fully installed.

Are you sure the lamp is pushed in far enough and did you make sure you screwed cover back on tightly?

I have the same problem. I'm pretty sure the lamp will not take the green tint away, for the green comes from a problem with the optical block.

XL5100 has lock lever that holds it intact inside tv, you need to put thumb on groove and press it to release the lock then pull out lamp, below image of lamp shows lock lever that moves upward when you press groove so lock gets release and lamp slides out very easily with little pull.
Please check new/ replacement lamp (if it is Sony original, it would be complete lamp including casing) for below mentioned lock function to have better idea how it works.

One question, why you decided to replace lamp in tv? Did tv showed red lamp light blinking?
Suggestion, make sure lamp cover has been placed back in its position after lamp replacement, lamp cover is first thing that you removed from tv cabinet to take out lamp.

It is very possible that the sound you heard was the lamo, the static sound is the ballast trying to light the lamp, replace the lamp and you should be fine.

If lamp light on Sony TV front start flashing that means Lamp is dead and need to be replaced.
Lamp replacement is easy and procedure would be written in user manual of TV.

Measurement the lamp continuity,if is OK the problem in the driver section.

Lamp light has failed. You can look on the net to see about replacement of entire unit or just the bulb. I do not know the model of your television, however, if you are adventurous enough you can change these yourself. Prior to going through all of this trouble though, it would be in your best interest to take you tv to Sears of something and have it looked over. It will cost you a little money, but if it is just a lamp and you think you can place it in the mounting yourself, you can save money. I asked a tech on my Mitsubishi if there would be any alignment or focus problems if I were to change the lamp and they said no there would not be a problem as long as everything was seated correctly. In other words....Don't force anything.

Installation is Quick and Easy:
In most cases, replacing your projection lamp is quick and easy. However, it is recommended that you consult your owner's manual for more detailed instructions:

Unplug your TV from your power outlet

Allow the lamp to cool for at least one (1) hour before replacing it

Remove the Lamp unit cover (Usually located at the rear of the television)

Unscrew the lamp housing unit

Remove the old lamp housing unit and discard

Screw in the new lamp housing unit

Place the cover back onto your TV unit Caution: Do NOT touch the bulb directly with your fingers.
