Normal size for dpi

DPI, or "font size" is variable, depending on your monitor's native resolution, The resolution you have selected for it in Windows (Desktop-->Properties[right-click]-->Display Properties-->Settings), and what program you are currently using (browsers can be "zoomed"). I would try adjusting your monitor resokution first, before changing display font size. Try this page for some help with XP: http://www.andybrain.com/qna/2008/02/09/how-to-change-the-font-size-in-windows-xp/This page for help in Win7: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/443-dpi-display-size-settings-change.htmlThere really is no such thing as "normal" DPI font size. Most people with decent eyes would probably use 96 as a standard.

Network card disappeared overnite

Before adding any ethernet card, try to restore your system by using system restore option available with windows to a date on which your system was perfectly working. If the your system works fine after that, then it is quite likely to have your system infected by malicious software or anti virus. Scan your system for virus. If the ethernet is not working then add a new card after disabling the on-board network card in the CMOS setup.

Dell optiplex gx 620 powere went out last night and this morning it won't turn on. The only light I see is on the motherboard and its solid yellow

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error even something as small as a faulty electrical extension or fan lead can cause you problems

computers need all of the data and electrical current to travel through every working device and to have an end to be able work properly

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail

check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

also check the Cmos battery and computer RAM modules make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

hope this helps you

Dell optiplex GX620 desktop has an ethernet port

Okay,..........

1) You can download a wireless Ethernet adapter driver all day, but if you Do Not have a wireless adapter card installed in your computer, the drivers do you no good.

Or if you do not have a wireless USB adapter plugged into a USB port.

Example of a wireless adapter card,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4695358&CatId=2692

Example of a wireless USB device,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6367137&CatId=2692

Example of an Ethernet adapter card,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=686143&CatId=200

If you are just going to hardwire the computer, just buy an Ethernet adapter card, (PCI version), and install it in your computer, (On the motherboard), in any available white PCI slot.

IF it is the Mini Tower model.

The Desktop, Small Form Factor (SFF), and Ultra Small Form Factor (SFF) computers, are too small in width for a regular size Ethernet adapter card.

They need a Low-Profile Ethernet adapter card,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833114034

This is for a Dell Optiplex GX620 Mini-Tower computer,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx620/en/ug/A02/mtabout0.htm#wp1051997

Scroll the page down until you come to the bold blue heading - System Board Components
This is an illustration of a Top view of the Mini-Tower's motherboard.

16 and 17 point to two PCI slots.
This is where an Ethernet adapter card that is the PCI version, will plug into.

PCI slots are White in color.
An example of a basic PCI slot, ( 3 are shown),

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PCI_Slots_Digon3.JPG

If you do decide to go wireless;

1) Wireless networking operates at half of the speed of wired networking.

A computer that is wired directly to an Ethernet adapter card, is twice as fast on the internet, as a computer that is connected wireless.

2) Make sure your Router is capable of wireless.
Make sure the wireless router has a built-in Modem, or that you have a separate Modem.

[ For DSL.
Phone line connects to Filter. Filter has a place for a telephone cable, and an Ethernet cable.
Ethernet cable connects to Filter, and other end connects to Modem.
Ethernet cable goes from Modem to Wireless router that does not have a built-in Modem.

OR,
Phone line connects to Filter. Ethernet cable from Filter goes directly to wireless router, that has a built-in Modem.

Computer has to have a USB wireless device, or a wireless adapter card, installed.

For additional questions, or to clarify anything I have stated, please post in a Comment.

Sound not produce when audio

Hi

You do not say if the sound was working before.

You do not say which operating system you are using.

Install the Audio Driver from the Dell Drivers & Utilities CD that came with the computer or download them from here, selecting your operating system:

Hello,
I would suggest that you reseat all the parts connected to the motherboard such as memory, PCI cards, etc.
Once you have reseated everything, try to boot it up. If you're still having the same error you might need to isolate the cause by removing everything from the motherboard then installing them one by one. after every installed part, try to boot up your system. It will give you a series of beeps. Please refer to the link below for the beep code

Dell Optiplex Beeps
You might also want to check some troubleshooting steps on that link to isolate the problem.

My computer dell gx 620

When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a can of compressed air to do this.
