Hook up motherboard and what kind of ram does it take

It uses non-ECC DDR2 533Mhz memory (aka PC4200). Any of these will perform quite happily with that motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007611+600006096&QksAutoSuggestion=&ShowDeactivatedMark=False&Configurator=&IsNodeId=1&Subcategory=147&description=&hisInDesc=&Ntk=&CFG=&SpeTabStoreType=&AdvancedSearch=1&srchInDesc=

My poblem is, I did a fresh installation and after the installation the sound did not come.

You need to go to the Dell Support site and download the drivers for the sound car, it is not part of the operating system.

Sound not play

Hi,
if you're not getting any sound from your optiplex it means either your sound card is bad or the driver is missing or corrupted. You should change the sound card if the first is the case or update the driver if the later is the case. I strongly believe that it's the driver, do that first and if it doesn't work, change the sound card.
Hope this helps

My dell optiplex gx620 does not start and it shows no. 3 and 4 lights illuminated on its front . what could be the problem.?

One of your memory chips is bad.

Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.

Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of the memory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x on it with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the next memory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set it aside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If it boots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and put it into the open memory chip slot and try booting. Diagnostic Lights caution.gif CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions located in the Product Information Guide. To help you troubleshoot a problem, your computer has four lights labeled "1," "2," "3," and "4"on the front or back panel. The lights can be off or green. When the computer starts normally, the patterns or codes on the lights change as the boot process completes. When the computer starts normally, the patterns or codes on the lights change as the boot process completes. If the POST portion of system boot completes successfully, all four lights display solid green. If the computer malfunctions during the POST process, the pattern displayed on the LEDs may help identify where in the process the computer halted. note.gif NOTE: The orientation of the diagnostic lights may vary depending on the system type. The diagnostic lights can appear either vertical or horizontal.

My gx 620 the power

Hello,

This problem is usually caused by a failure on the motherboard. It is repairable if you can solder. The repair involves replacing 5 small parts. Look over this article on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/dell-optiplex-gx620-motherboard-repair/ The article show what to look for on your motherboard to determine if your board is affected. The capacitors should be flat on top, any bulging indicates failure.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

On no signal

If you are saying the Monitor says No Signal, then more than likely the Video Card in the computer is bad. Try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor does the same and displays No Signal, then your video card is bad. If the Borrowed monitor displays and works ok, then your original monitor is bad.

How do i replace motherboard

On a desktop it is easy because you don't have many parts to remove. A digital camera might help to remember where things go. Just remove the case and lay the laptop on it's side. Start unplugging the connections that run from the Power Supply to the motherboard and devices such as the hard drive and DvD Drive. You might have to remove the Power Supply, Hard Drive, Cd Drive, etc if they are in the way of getting the board out. There will either be screws that hold the motherboard to the case or there will be latches used to hold it to the case. Once removed, just lift the board out. Remember to take your memory, CPU, Heatsink and CPU Fan off the old board and put them on the new one. You will need some Thermal Paste to apply a fresh coat on the Cpu and HeatSink to keep the board from overheating.
