What is wrong with my computer when I restart it
Seems to be your video driver (maybe). restart the computer when you see Dell logo start tapping on F8 key it will take you to advanced windows options. Select Safemode and press enter. login like you normally would . once you are on your desktop go to Start>all programs> accessories>system tools > system restore. Select the lastes bolded date and contunie to follow the prompts and your system should restart. You system will restart and it will state the system restore has completed. If not repeat the process by going into safemode with networking. once the desktop is up click on internet explorer and go to support.dell.com click on Drivers and downloads and search by service tag. down load the video driver in the video category.
hope that helps

CD/DVD drives are even less reliable than the cheap power supplies generally used in packaged PCs.
Of two new, brand-name drives by Lite-On, one was DOA and the second ran for 2 days.
You can try removing (deleting) the drive from the Device Manager list, then rebooting.
If the drive is at all usable, Windows should 'find' it and reinstall the driver needed.
If this doesn't work, the drive is likely dead.
I dont know were to
hi

The original hard drive on
If your drive is fried, then file recovery may not be possible.
If you are using a SATA hard drive that uses the thin cable with a small connection at the ends, you will also need to connect a power cable as well.
you should be able to hook up your old hard drive into your PC if you have a second SATA cable and a spare SATA power connection.
Splitters are availible at most PC shops, and should not cost very much.
Once again, if your drive is completely fried or burnt out, file recovery may not be possible.
The on and off switch needs to really be pushed
Its usually just a little coil spring on a post behind the button.
Take the sides off the case, you should be able to see the clips needed to release the case front.
You may just be able to stretch the spring.
If this is not the problem there maybe something snapped
Dell 5150 - solid amber light at the switch.
Make sure the 12v power connector is securely connected to the system board. If you open up your computer look at the end of the board that the memory modules are there is a 4 pin connector thats the 12 v Make sure thats plugged in and secure, If thats ok you have already did the removal of the memory and replaced them, take out any pci express cards and use your onboard video, if that don't work try one memory module at a time see if that works you already seem to be savoy enough to do that and try that, and if that does not work you may need a new power supply. You can check it but probally will be bad I have the same desktop and thats been a problem with these 5150 along with the mother board going out after the warranty expires. I sure Hope this helps you out,, Happy Holidays to you and yours. Hey If you need me to look anything else up let me know. Thanks again bear001
Wont switch on has power to switch
Hi,
As you are syaing there is green light in on the power button on the tower. The problem could be caused with any on the internal components inside the computer. Do you see and diagnostics lights that come on in the front of the tower like 1,2,3,4. If any of those lights are on , then one of the components inside the computer is bad.
For step by step instructions on how to isolate the issue refer to the following link

When removed wd 1.5 tb
If you mean you had backed up the entire C: drive to Wd-1.5Tb drive, then there's another drive installed, right? Is the remove 1.5tb drive usb or sata? Please don't mind when i ask those questions, it's very important during troubleshooting.
At this first attempt, i can't give you the specific solution since your questions isn't detailed. I would also like to know how you did the back up, whether you use the back-up wizard or you'd just copy/paste the files from C drive to the Wd 1.5 tb drive..
Well, before you reply my post, please open the case/cabinet and reconnect the hard drive, dvd-drive, rams, etc... and again reboot the system before you close the housing. If it isn't successful, please remove the hard disk and boot up the system and check whether you can enter the Bios Settings or not. If it's ok, then you need to recheck the connection of the hard disk. I would also suggest you to try it on another Pc to assure that it's working properly. Please let me know after you are done all these.
Awaiting your reply.
Good luck.
Dell E510 desktop was fine. Went to start again
check if your booting device is working fine...
and see the booting device in the BIOS..
if it is not found there, try connecting the same in other PC as a slave..if there also it does not work, the device might have gone
Machine won't power on immediately.
will
HI. This will be an easy fix here. Your power supply will be the lone culprit in this case. There may be a considerable amount of lint build up inside the power supply box. This build up will cause a arcing effect, thus, shorting the on-board capacitors and corresponding components, as well. The necessary actions are to replace your power supply unit. Make sure you replace the existing supply with the equivalent. This is very important.
- NOTE_ The affected power supply is weak at the moment, but it will totally fail soon. Have it replaced, asap. I would also advise to replace your motherboard battery as well. This is located on the motherboard. It is the size of a quarter(circular).

You can try this. On the log-on screen where you see your Account Icons try pressing ctrl alt delete. Some windows XP are configured that if ctrl+alt+delete are pressed on the lon-on screen the classic log-on screen window will appear, where you can type your username and password thus eliminating the use of the mouse.
Im haveing problems on loading on to my internet
Depending on what type of internet browser your using it could vary. Use the tools option and select internet options. From here you want to go to the advanced tab and try finding the problem in the security section, permitted you have admin rights on the computer, otherwise these effects will not change depending on your operating system. Hope this helps.
