Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. If you
have deleted the message, it still remains in the back up and can be retrieved
by contacting the service provider only. However, to avoid this type of issue
it is always recommended to save all important messages till the memory is
full. After that you can delete the un wanted messages and keep the important
ones.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or
else revert for further assistance.
Thanks
Rylee

Static in the recorded message. AT&T model 1738
The microphone (located inside the unit and faces downward towards the surface below the answering machine) might be defective. One option would be to call into the answering machine and try recording your message that way.
Other than that, there really isn't much you can do for this problem other than replace the unit.

Static
If the telephone line itself is static-free, connect a normal telephone to the same jack that the answering machine uses. If all calls are static-free, you've cleared the wiring and the telephone service provider. Next, plug the telephone into the jack on the back of the answering machine. If all calls are clean, but messages are still loaded with static, then we may be talking about a bad answering machine. If you have DSL service, make sure that there is a filter installed between the wall jack and the cord that goes to the answering machine.

I accidentally deleted an answer I wanted to hear
Once you delete a message on a consumer answering machine, it's gone. The only option is to save all messages until the machine signals that it's out of room. Even with a tape-based answering machine or professional voicemail systems, once you erase a message, it's gone.
