Adding more hard space

If you are running out of hard disk space you need to do disk maintenance to recover lost disk space.
Please click on this link and follow my instructions :-
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559146-hard_disk_maintenance

If you still need more disk space you can add another hard disk to your computer as a slave hard drive. You can move your data to this new hard drive and free up disk space on your C Drive.

Just bought a new HP 2009m Monitor and my PC is

Sony eSupport > Vaio PCV-RS510 desktop computer > Manuals, Specs, and Warranty page,

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=PCVRS510

On this page I invite you to left-click on - Marketing Specifications, under the SPECS heading.

A small window will come up on the left, showing a PDF file of the marketing specifications.

Expand it to full size.
(Top right corner. Left-click on the Maximize icon, in-between the Minimize icon, and the Red X)

The graphics expansion slot uses the AGP technology.
(Accelerated Graphics Port

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGP

It is the AGP 8X version.

Advise you need an AGP graphics card, that is AGP 8X, and has a DVI port.

( I'm using an HP 2009m monitor right now, but I have the PCI Express 1.1 technology)

DVI
Digital Visual Interface,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface

I wouldn't advise getting too 'crazy' with buying the best AGP 8X graphics card available.

A decent AGP 8X graphics card that doesn't 'break the bank', will do just fine.

Here are two examples;

A) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5367566&CatId=3669

B) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6076197&CatId=2234

[Advisement:

BEFORE you install a graphics card, here are some tips;

A) Computer unplugged from power.

B) Observe Anti-Static Precautions.

Your body carries Static electricity.
Static will fry out (Short Circuit), the delicate hardware components inside a computer.

Computer unplugged from power, computer case open, working on a table; TOUCH the metal frame of the open computer case, BEFORE you reach inside.

Should you walk away in the middle of working on your computer, upon your return be sure to Touch the metal frame again.

C) Computer on, and Windows loaded, Install the CD that comes with the graphics card FIRST.
Load the software from that disk.

Then shut the computer down, unplug from power, and after observing Anti-Static precautions, install the graphics card.

[Also, sometimes in our zealousness to get things going again, we forget to unplug the monitor from the computer's Integrated Graphics, and plug the monitor into the graphics card ]

I have a pcv-rs510 vaio desk top with DMA/ATA-100,

you can do either way ..the ide port will support them both ..the first one has the advantage that the operation system may be left on the first one .and the data stored on the second.this way large amound of data can be protected from hdd failure ..cause if it happens usually it is affected the one with operation system ..also you can move them easy just moving the hdd...
The second will be faster cause it will be all in one .and the data transfer from a partition to another faster ..also the bus has aa larger transfer rate and communication speed..but ..just see what is the most convenient for you ..price ..and function ...depends on what you want to do ..

Sony does a weird thing where they make their

Disk priority order is usually dependent on physical wiring of drives to mainboard.
My first thought is;
in mainboard BIOS check what order is listed & what options it gives. (ie. change cables around, swap order of precedence etc.)
Otherwise 'mirror' copy the drive it should boot on to the drive it does boot to save drivers etc.
Note this overwrites the target disk contents!

Unable to locate original software, no disc ever

What software are you looking for? normally they will do a disk partition and have all software for the system installed on a a different drive partition and you can recover by hitting Del when it is booting up and then when the screen comes up it will ask you if you want to do recovery then just follow the prompts, If you have lost your drive you can reinstall over the top of old system unless you have a bad drive. If you need more help let me know, Also the Main software serial number should be attached to the computer on the back somewhere.

But like anything else in the computer world one year you need to upgrade, two years you need upgrade, Three years you need to upgrade, forth year you need to buy a more up to date computer. I replace mine and use my others for back ups or sell them. If your selling yours and it is in good shape you could get up to $399.00 for it. Hope this helps.

Audio driver

Check your manual for the Driver type. If it is the common AC97 - then is is available for free download - just Google for it. Also the Motherboard or utilities disk that came with the computer should have it. Alternatively contact Sony Tech Supp Team.
