I have a card reader
this PC can be 17 years old , buy a HP Xw4600(win)why mess with something this old.why not say what the reader does?? just tiny clue first. my guess found at garage sale a 7-in-1 flash memory readers. and dont know that those are not standardized and only work on specific series of HP PCs? no card reader model state so??? no answer accurate possible. besides above. card, (camera flash media) my guess. The correct reader is 5069-5035-SPECthat number is off the hp offical parts surfer.HP has zero support on something this old, it's now super legacy status, long long forgotten!but the dark net (google)finds this free book on it, how lucky you .https://www.manualagent.com/hp/pavilion-a305w-desktop-pc/users-manual/page-2the?about the 7-in-1 memory card reader....that?the cable plug is keyed, just plug it into the correct mobo pin grid socket. but my guess is you forgotto buy 5069-5035-SPEC this.my guess ? is you have the wrong motherboardor wrong reader, from HP, they must match, what works is going to the parts surfer, and looking up DM181ARit tells me , 5069-5035-SPECstatesFront I/O connector - Has two USB connectors - Panther/JaguarNO LONGER SUPPLIEDlooking deep in ebay, completeds non sold non offered in a long time.why do thIS AT ALLJUST BUY A DIRT CHEAP USB CARD READER,AND PLUG IT IN TO THE usb PORT AND then watch XP fail. as XP is now dead. and no Plug and play support, , that means dont buy any thing like thisunless the maker promises XP support direct from them.not MS, XP is DEAD at MS, now.same with VISTA!
