HP Pavilion Media Center a1235c PC Desktop

a very old DT. listed now as RETIRED. https://support.hp.com/us-en/retired-products what OS is there now???? seems its XP right? what disc, be clear.? I have already used the Operating System disc - Reinstallation CD HP? set (called the HP media kit cd set) MS (microsoft have vast discs and all fail lacking a license. OR FROM FROM VIRUS SITE THAT SELLS cloned DISKS. LESSON 1, The case COA tag is the HP/MS OEM license that is useless with any MS you have, its OEM disks, not RETAIL license. so only HP disks work see? with that COA. MS does not sell OEM disks, but long ago, MS did XP like that but are rare as hens teeth then and x1000 more rare now... EBAY? first is F11 restore key if the HDD is still good and not MS installer slammed. then the F11 key works, or F10 for old XP. That function key is boot up hot key F10 for the oldest. even older have no hot key at all like win2000? show stoppers. no key no correct disk the HP disk has all the HP chip drivers that work F10 or F11 HP restore key, will fail if the HDD is dead. F10 or F11 HP , key fails if someone used MS disks on it in the past. if this pc is super old, you need a set of disks and a matching coa license, MS still requires activation on XP and VISTA. on up. even though XP is now, DEAD at MS next time say what OS is on the system the show photos of the 1st CD. and magic happens, we go UNBLIND. if running XP consider upgrading it? http://www.pcdied.com/XP-sux-sg.html

A1230n ethernet port

If this machine is running XP, or earlier (98, 2000, ME, etc.), beware. It is no longer supported, and hackers will be looking for these machines to infect. I recommend you get a newer machine, or don't try to get on the Internet with this one.

Computersetting for boot amd restart

Test your PSU power supply unit or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/f/powersupplytest.htm

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle of restarting or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive power and data cables IDE SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your dvd\cd floppy drives have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty computers need power and data to travel through every working device to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error even something as small as a faulty electrical or fan lead can cause you problems

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail

check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

also check the Cmos battery and computer RAM modules make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in check you CPU central processing unit make sure its securely seated and has thermal paste it might be getting to hot the thermal paste will help disperse the heat Thermal compound is a sticky paste that is placed directly onto the CPU. Allowing for a more direct heat transfer between the CPU and HEAT SINK and preventing air gaps from forming between the CPU and heat sink. hope this helps

the first thing we need to do is to boot the system fresh in safe mode
heres how to do that,
1).push power button at first screen with big hp on it push f8
now for reference f2,is for cmos, and f12 is for boot preference
after you push f8 diag screen willcome up using the up and down arrows scrool up to safe mode then hit enter (return)
a pop up windows will ask if you want to run in safe mode click yes
after the system has booted (push the start button and the push run)
in the field type msconfig .... this will bring uo your configuration utility,,
theres a couple of things we need to do here first click on the startup tab
you see all those boxes with check marks uncheck all except the ones that have hp in them.now push apply,DONT PUSH CLOSE THOUGH,instead open the general tab at the top of the configuration utility, and now you can push the system restore button \ answer yes you want to restore your system to an earlier time\ itll bring up some calenders for you to choose a date\choose a date when you know the computer was running well have a great day

Computer will not turrn on hp

Hi Raul,
Try this following instruction to isolate the problem.
1. Check the power outlet/AVR if it has an output, if okay,
2. Check the wire if okay, often times, the wire is damage or open. try to use another cable.
3. If the wire is okay, try to isolate the power supply, remove the power supply connection to the board and short the color gray and green wire to see if the power supply is working, if the power supply turned on then its ok.
4. It the power supply is working, try to check the power on button, it might have a problem. to override the power on button you can short the pins inside the board where the wire from power button is connected to motherboard.

HP Pavilion a1230n had bad

If the beeping is coming from the power supply, that typically means that you are pulling too much wattage. I would recommend trying a higher wattage power supply. The video card is one of the lowest things on the computer's list of things to keep running at all costs, because even if your video card flickers off, you won't lose data. Before getting another new power supply though, I would ensure that your video cables are properly plugged into your video card and your monitor. To be sure that they are snug simply screw them in so that they don't wiggle at all when you pull on them.

Try rebooting the computer with the back up disk inserted in the slot. This should work because the computer looks at all the disk drives when it reboots. And should default to the backup disk. :)

Hp a1230n heating

Robert, I recommend you to open the chassis cover and check if there is any obstruction of any air vent. Meanwhile, if you can hear a loud fan spinning of the CPU heatsink, you might have to replace the thermal paste, the instruction http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/134.

If the problem still persist, don forget to come back here. I will try my best to help you.
