another thing which we can try is
1>take out both the cartridges
2> unplug the power cable while the printer is on
3>press the power button for 30 sec to remove the static
3>replug the power
now let the printer lights blink prompting you to put the cartridges
4>put the black cartridge first
some Hp printers work on single cartridges as well.
5>see if you hear the same grinding noise again
6>try cleaning the rollers with a little damp lint free cloth
7>try putting the color cartridge
make sure that the cartridges snap inside properly.
8>see if the problem persists

Hi, If you are again driver installation then first you check it driver backup available or not. If available then ok or it not then you download first then re-installed it. Or if you are now printer add then old driver uninstalled and new printer installed it. I share a link please visit and follow step by step instruction. Pl check WMV..

In run window type services.msc and the go to print spooler option just stop and restart the service. and also switch off and switch on the printer and try to cancel all the documents form print spooler it will remove all pending jobs. Go to printer and faxes option and choose the printer model which you installed just right click on it you will see the option of use printer online. Also I suggest you to change the usb port and the cable also still if you facing the problem follow these steps, right click on my computer and go to properties then hardware in that click on device manger and check there is any other device is listed if it is there just remove it and click for scan for hardware changes when he prompt for driver reinstall the driver cd.

It seems that there are errors in your registry that has made your operating software failing in executing the detection as there are still roots of the printer drivers present in the system.
So I would advice that you restore your system to an earlier set date where the programs were in order. Once done repeat to see if the driver can be reinstalled. If not use a registry cleaner to check, or you will need to reinstall OS as your PC has some malware/virus.
