ok first try restarting your printer, then try uninstalling the driver for your printer off your computer, restart your computer and printer and then reinstall your drive for the printer, see if you get a replacement for your printer or a refund

The 1018 is not supported by HP with the Mac OS Mountain Lion. I found this on an HP forum and it worked for someone else. It sounds like a bit of paper is stuck somewhere in the paper feed route. Remove the toner cartridge and any other bits that pull out. Removable bits often have a green tag or finger grips moulded in to them. Do a careful check in the printer for any bits of paper or even a full sheet stuck somewhere. Carefully remove all rubbish and reassemble.

This means the toner cartridge is getting low on that side. Remove the cartridge and shake it side to side to redistribute the toner and retry. You'll need a new toner cartridge soon.

there is a test button on the main PCA (formatter) which Commands(not requests) a test page . whilst this button is depressed (or sensed as being depressed) the machine will continuously print out an engine test page.- remove the formatter - look for a small white press to make switch ( labeled Engine Test) situated toward the centre of the PWB and replace with new (standard type of switch available from most good stockists of components). the service manual for this machine is now readily available on the internet for just a couple of pounds.

Usually replacing the toner cartridge fixes that problem. Sometimes it's the fuser.

Yes, this is normal. The printer is connected to PC1. If PC1 is off, there is no way another PC can send anything to the printer. To use that printer PC1 has to be on and started.

Forget it..it's a GDI printer.No drivers available and no CUPS printing possible.
