HP Deskjet 6940 InkJet Printer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

My HP Deskjet 6940 is not printing. The color (left) low ink light is dark and the black (right) low ink light is flashing. I replaced the black ink cartridge with a new one but the low ink light continues to flash. No tears/rips in the circuit strip and all the copper leads appear to be connected

go online to Hp webpage, download the driver and install it. it will fix your problem.

Hi It sounds like a good chance the black has blocked it does not take much just things like leaving the cartridge out for a bit or it can also take a bit to get a new cartridge working. I would recommend you try to do a head clean it uses a lot of ink doing this but sometimes there is no choice. In settings you should be able to do only black option. Regards Craig

This past Saturday we just had a similiar problem on our church HP printer. Different number than yours, but most likely the same solution. It jammed when the last person used it, so they removed the crinkled paper. Or so they thought - there was a piece maybe 1-1/2" triangular shape stuck on top. I liked to never found it, I looked even with a flashlight 4 times before I caught just a hint of white way up there. If that is not it, there could be a door you have not opened. Most of them open top, back, front. Ours also opens on the side. The back opens in two places. Occasionally there can be a piece of paper you can only see from one door.

Try a original cart if it does work it will need a printhead.

Go to the settings menu and select paper handling and set the paper to 4x6.

you can click it for 10 seconds and it will show you to print it and other stuff and when it shows the whole screen click color and ther you go

If you are running Windows 7 I believe it has been disabled. There are some work arounds but I'm not sure.

do a clean - goto printer properties - should see tools there you can choose to do a clean or deepclean also try a head alignment on the maintenance section

This could be a problem with Internet Explorer, rather than your printer. Try using another browser like Chrome or Firefox and print.

Try resetting the printer before anything else. Solution one: Reset the product

1. Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product. NOTE: The USB cable connects to the port on the rear of the product. The port is labeled with the USB icon ( ). If your printer has a network or wireless connection, ignore this step. Figure 1: Example USB connection (your product might not look exactly the same as this example)
2. Remove the cartridges from the product.
3. Wait until a message to insert the cartridges displays. If you do not see a message within a few minutes, skip to the next step. NOTE: If your printer does not have a display, wait until the cartridge lights blink. If the cartridge lights do not blink within a few minutes, skip to the next step.
4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
5. Wait 60 seconds.
6. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button ( ).
7. Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product.
8. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
9. If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the product.
10. Try printing again.

I have had varying success with envelopes. Can you feed in the other way round? Sometimes different envelopes perform better. The peel N seal can be very difficult

The black button is the upper-most button on the left side of the printer, and makes up the upper edge of that section. It is literally directly above two buttons, one with the red "X" and the down-arrow.

Hi Brenda,Considering that your printer has an in-built Ethernet feature means no need for external print servers.

• Take the printers network/Ethernet cable and then plug it into a router/network Hub.
• Once you've connected the computer to the network,install the printers software in all the[networked] computers that will use it.
• Now try printing.Note that,the networked computers print jobs will be printed in order received.

Check whether the ink cartridges are properly installed.If installed incorrectly they can cause the printer to go offline.Install them correctly.
Also check whether you're running low on cartridges ink and replace if need be.

hi, when the sys is formatted tool box is erased, un install the printer soft ware from the system using CD rom, restart the system reload drivers fully,printer starts displaying the ink levels.
