You don't need any special software.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program, such as iPhoto or Windows Photo Gallery.
Unable to view the pictures folder
Hi, I got the solution for myself. Initially I have enabled to view the hidden folder option and even then I was not able to see the folder, then later I have disabled the options Hide Extensions for Known file types and Hide Protected Operating system files. Then I could see the folder and able to retrieve the photos. Once I have taken my photos I have formatted my MMC card and it is working normally.
When I turn it on
Maybe the lens is blocked.
Try the following:
1. Turn OFF the camera and push softly the lens
2. Turn ON the camera and pull softly the lens

How i reformat a memory
I'll try to explains that you format the memory stick - which will delete all pictures stored on the device as part of the process - by doing the following:
Insert the Memory Stick media® to be formatted in the camera.
On the camera, turn the MODE DIAL to the SETUP position.
Turn on the camera.
Using the CONTROL BUTTON, press the DOWN ARROW button to select MEMORY STICK TOOL.
Press the center of the CONTROL BUTTON.
Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select FORMAT.
Press the RIGHT ARROW button.
Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select OK.
Press the center of the CONTROL BUTTON.
Hope helps.
