Monitor
Try another monitor to determine if the trouble is in the monitor or the computer's video circuitry. If it's due to the computer, install a new video card or replace the current one.
If the monitor is at fault, it is possible that bad capacitors in its power supply might be causing the problems, or there may be poor solder connections. Both are typical failures in many products. But given the relatively low cost of monitors today, repair is often uneconomical. Not too many shops will even attempt repairs. There's not a lot you can do except to replace the it.
Yes, it's only a couple of years old, and you have every right to feel "this should not be happening." But the sad fact is that consumer products are very cheaply made these days. Once a product is past its warranty period, the manufacturer doesn't care any more. That's also why stores push you to buy replacement warranties when you purchase a product.

I have seen this problem before, ensure that your graphics card in being used completely. It is a sign that the setting for allocation of video memory is set a little low. Enter the BIOS by hitting the del key during POST the you would navigate to the option that shows your video memory. Either 64mb, 128mb, 256mb, 512mb, 1024mb this depends on the memory of your graphics card. Set it to the memory of your graphics card or try setting it one place higher than present, remember that if it doesn't work then set it back down again.
Also ensure to install the latest Nvidia drivers for your graphics card.
Please let me know if this solves your problem.
Thanks
The screen keeps popping in
sounds like the flyback transformer solder joints have cracked due to heating and cooling down(normal) DONT leave your monitor on 24/7 the have a limited number of hours before they drop.
An experience tech can resolder the joints and it will work
My monito is not getting signal
if your monitor says no signal and goes to sleep when your pc is on then the first thing to check is if it's plugged into the correct socket. I've had people tell me yes to this question and when I see them all I do is plug the monitor into the right socket. They had an additional graphics card as well as the on board graphics output. If this is not the issue then the graphics output is probably shot, add new graphics card or replace motherboard.
Gateway Monitor keeps going black
Alicia, Your monitor digital board is OK. The problem is with the power supply/ Inverter board(s) in back of the LCD/LPD Panel that you look at. You will need to question Gateway to see if they have a swapout program where you send them $30-$60 and your old monitor, and they will send you a refurbished (new cold cathode fluorescent tubes w/inverter board installed ) complete monitor. I'll tell you one thing though. Alicia, Don't feel bad abt this monitor of your's failing. You have joined the club with over 2000 others whose CCF tubes and INVERTER boards have with time now fail to light-up their LCD panels. Yes, there are some companys that do repair of these monitors. Try surfing under CCF tubes or FPD repair, or LCD repair. Yes Alicia, you are dealing with a technology similar to the new type of screw-in light bulbs, only the tubes are thinner and laid flat horizontally across the rear of your LCD panel with a reflecting mirror in back of them. Good luck girl in getting it repaired. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol .com North of Chicago 40 miles
Turning itself off
Well, the only reason it wil do so is a Loose conection in its power circuit.
You would not be able to Fix the Internal circuit.
Howver you can doublecheck the External connections.
By tring to connect them Securely.
by replacing the Power cord connecting the Monitor to the Socket.
If there are any surge protectors or UPS in the circuit then Remove them and connect them directly.
I have a Gateway LP2417 monitor and there's No sound.Hoe do I fix it,so I can hear the video that is playing?
This monitor may not have built-in speakers. It may have supported Gateway's monitor mounted sound bar. That sound bar connected to the 3.5 mm audio out on a computer and a DIN port on the monitor.
The simplest solution is to connect your source to appropriate speakers. Depending on your audio setup, you could connect the video source to a receiver with HDMI IN and HDMI Out (ARC), computer speakers or an audio extractor. (If you are using an HDMI cable between the Gateway LP2417 and a computer, you may need to reset the audio output to use basic computer speakers (3.5mm jack).) VGA and DVI connections don't support audio so I assume you are using the HDMI port.
I hope this helps.
