My computer doesn't load on the screen as I turn it in

A solid amber power LED on a Dell System is indicative of a no post. There are 4 diagnostics LEDs on most Dell Towers (Either on the back marked ABCD, or on the front marked 1234) they can give more details of what the POST problem is.
Troubleshooting: Disconnect all external connections to tower except power, turn it on, see if the LED indications changed. If they change, then connect disconnected items one at a time till the failed item is found. If no change, the open tower, remove all PCI expansion cards, see if system will boot. If still no change, then most likely a motherboard failure. Take RAM out, see if you get a Beep error code when powered on, if no beeps, replace motherboard. If it does beep, try RAM modules one at a time, if it boots with 1 but not the other, replace the effected module. If no boot, with either replace MB

Take the 4 screws out of the stand and remove it. Remove the 2 screw in monitor cable plug bolts.
Put a steel ruler or butter knife between the seam on the side of the monitor and prize open. This is tough but be sure not to insert your prying tool too far and dont start on a corner. Once a few clips have popped it will come apart easier.

Dell Monitor Repair

These models are prone to shorting of the inverter drive transistors, 2sc5707. An in-circuit ohm meter test will reveal which are shorted if any. They should be replaced in pairs even if only one is shorted. Bad solder joints on the transformer can cause them to short so look for bad solder.

I cant open the back cover

Hi there,
I have worked on several of these and they are tricky the first time.

Unscrew the 4 main screws and remove the stand.

Then on the bottom of the frame, there are two very small little slots. That is where you carefully pry it open. It helps to have two small scredrivers for this, both smaller thin style.

There is a thing called a spudger you can find online that is a small thin nylon stick, I have a few of them, and it helps to pry open the face.

You have to get a little tiny opening, then stick in a screwdriver, then the other side, and keep carefully moving along seperating the front face panel. It is very slow, and do not get too crazy, just be patient.

This is not the exact model, but gives you and idea of how they come apart.

Ds-1107a inverter/power supply no power or comes on &LCDflickers

Classic sign of bad inverter. Since it is inside the LCD not something you can fix yourself unless you work with electronics. Needs to go to the repair shop.

Video cards that can handle two monitors at the same time have cables with two plugs on the monitor end.

If your video cable has two plugs on the monitor end, try the other plug.

The screen doesn't display anything and the power button is flashing green

Ok I got the same problem. And this is the way how to examine where the problem is. You have to check that you can see the image on screen by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons (Power on both cpu and monitor), there will be a minor problem. Like me, I can see window image using flashlight and check lamps inside. Some of them were broken. If you cannot see any icon on the screen. I would say that there are some problems with inverter board. If you have soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It may cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or dark spot on the board because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better go get a technician to do so.
