Sony is a company which does not want you to be free to buy the accessories of your choice. This is true with too many of their products.

The only option I know of is the option I went with:

I purchased mine on eBay for a better price and to avoid Sony.

One other thing I did is: I purchased a handheld, pocket-size voice recorder with a tie-clip microphone. Mine is an Olympus.

Which software package are you using? My brother was able to solve the HD capture problem by using Adobe After Effects.

See if there is anything foreign inside the camcorder tape drive, if there is, remove it.

Buy a Sony Head cleaning Casette/tape and use it on the player.

If you are unable to use the head cleaning tape, and the door will not close the camcorder will require repairs. If you see that its something obvious, you can possibly fix it yourself by disassembling the side or the case of the unit to get to the tape drive, and correct the problem.

If its not something obvious that you can pick up just by looking at it I would highly recommend that you take the camcorder to a local sony service center or repairer.

If you are in warranty contact your dealer or sony directly for warranty repairs.

if you are outside of warranty, well see above, see if you can fix the problem of the door not closing yourself then run the head cleaning casette or take it to a repairer.

every time you open and close lcd pannel of camera there is a wire belt frome main circuit to lcd it brakes it is not a major problem but you can not do it at home. if you can see picture in view finder, take it to authorised service centre.

actuallythis error is related to Head assy. i.e, the (head)drum motor is not completing its fg in proper time. try to use cleaning tape 1 st and then play back your normal tape.

if the problem persists then u need to go to the near by service center as they will clean the head assy. manually.

you can connect your camcorder to your computer via ilink or firewire cable. connection is plug and play, no drivers needed, and the software that you need to use is windows movie maker. check he web if you do not know what firewire or ilink cable is.

humm, interesting.... You need proper service manual to open n repair this expensive camera. Service manual is available on charge basis.

C32 error codes are usually cassette or tape transport related. Can you eject the tape? Try inserting a new tape to see if the fault is with the tape itself.

If this doesn't work, I suggest that you take your camera to a service centre.

what we do at work is run a tape in ff and rw that has been recorded with completely and then use a soft head cleaning tape for twenty secs if that doesnt work then it needs to go in for repair.

Hello, yes I am aware of that problem. Basically one should change the so called VC441 Board. Luckily PAL version has almost twice cheaper VC441 board then the US version. For my account about 300 Euro. So, in order to repair the camcorder above mentioned board has to be replaced. If you need more info please advice.
