Acer AL1916B 19" LCD Monitor Questions & Answers
Sammi James PROBLEM
This may not be a Monitor problem.
So if you can try to get to test monitor on another computer.
Check carefully the data cable to ensure there are no bent pins.
If it turnout to be a monitor problem then at only 6 months -Acer should replace it.
If the monitor works - you should have the graphics card on the computer checked out.
If you feel you can do this - and you can- basic checks come back as another request.
Acer AL1916 can't start
If you press the power button and nothing comes on at all then something isn't providing power to the laptop as it should and you may likely need to replace the battery or the power cord.
Find a replacement battery. Change your battery with a new one then plug it up and turn on to see if this works.
If replacing the battery doesn't work then replace the power cord and trying turning it on again. If this doesn't work either, you have a more serious issue going on.
Not too long ago, I was on vacation, my laptop had been working fine until suddenly it wouldn't come on at all. I went into the office to grab a new battery and power cord. (I work on computers so I had spare parts in my office/Tech Room.)
I got home and replaced the battery then tried to turn it on using the old power cord...didn't work. This was a brand new battery so now I knew that I could rule out the battery as the issue...the only two things left to troubleshoot were the power cord and the laptop itself.
I put my old battery back in the laptop then tried to turn it on using a different power cord and it worked. I didn't need to replace my battery or laptop. The power cord had failed.
I hope that your issue is as simple as this solution. Try confirming whether your battery and power cord are still working...you may just need to replace one or the other.

Green Flash power only on one computer
It sounds like the monitor functions properly and your computer functions properly, but the combination causes a problem. Try making sure the screen resolution on your main computer is set to an acceptable resolution for your monitor - AL1916. Try setting it low to 800x600 and move up from there until it doesn't work anymore. You can change the screen resolution from the Display Settings (right click on the desktop and select Display Settings) window.
Monitor won't turn on
capacitor has shorted in the main board. Try to look for any buldging capacitor and change it. It will be ok then.

go to safe mode then reinstalll or update dispaly driver . other wise set the screen refreh rate to 60 hz
I have an Acer AL1916 monitor and I turned it on
sounds like a cable problem, can you find another VGA cable to try, look at the cable ends carefully for bent pins.(they are easy to bend by accident) wiggle the blue VGA connector while its on, try both ends, I think when you push the button your pushing on the cable momentarily which causes the monitor to function properly, likely the connector on the back of the monitor.
if this helps, please use the thumbs up for feedback.
cheers

First, does this monitor work OK with other PC? We need to find out if it is the monitor or the PC problem first.
If it is the monitor, then you will have to troubleshoot it and more likely to have bad caps just like the other failed ACER and all other brands as hsown in my albums.
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

You need to inspect the filter caps in the power supply, DC voltages, shorted IC/transistors, transformers, etc.
