We just purchased the wide screen acer monitor that did not come with any drivers. The computer set up we have running windows XP will not allow us to install the drivers we downloaded formt eh acer website. We even tried r-ght-clicking the inf driver file and selecting install but had no luck. What can we do to get these drivers to install? The resolution is poor - the text is blurry.
The AL1916W's native resolution is 1440 x 900. See if your display settings can produce that resolution.

When the monitor is turned on it appears to work - the "acer" name comes up and then the words "no signal". As soon as no signal comes on the sceen it goes to black and the light turns orange. The pc has a new video card installed and tests okay on other monitors, a new cable between pc and monitor has been installed also - still no success
1 Take the monitor out to the street
2 Raise above head
3 Hurl it twards the ground
4 Release
5 Watch peices fly everywhere
6 Enjoy a cold beer
7 Go out & buy a nice new monitor ( not a acer product )

The menu button does not activate the OSD window. How can I make the buttons work or at least adjust the brightness some other way?
Please try to turn the monitor off. hold down the Menu button while the monitor is turned off, then press the Power button again to turn the monitor back on. This should unlock your OSD menu. best regards

well my computer was originally windows vista, but after it crashed once and i sent it for repair, it came back with this ''windows vista not genuine'' problem. I always clicked ''activate later'' for the past few weeks and it was fine. But today when I tried to switch the computer on, my Acer monitor showed the acer logo followed by a ''no signal'' message and finally a blank screen. The CPU began to make the same noises as it usually did when it starts up (i.e. fan turns on & makes a humming noise).
so i'm wondering, is it just my monitor that's not working, or has Windows prevented my computer from starting up because the version is not genuine? Is there any way to fix it?
Thanks in advance! :)
It is screen resolution problem.
when you power up the computer press F8 key thene nter in enable vga mode then go to diaply property and set screnn resolution to 1024*768 thenh apply and ok.
