20 Most Recent Maytag Dependable Care LAT9706 Questions & Answers

Hi, I know this model because I have one exactly as yours and I fixed it a couple of time. Your problem seems to be the lid switch assembly. Your wiil find it for less than $40 at partselect.ca or at the place of your choice. Before buying it make sure that the lid is not loose, if it is, just replace the lid hinge balls (2). If the lid is not loose you might have the lid switch checked by the appropriate person for looseness or breakage. That switch is located under the timer. You will also notice a small bulge on the lid facing the switch. It should be intact or it will not activate the switch.

open the lid if it doesn't click check the lid switch,on the older maytags if they went out of balance the lid switch would sometimes stick, your washer is old and i can't see some of the lookups for it,like i said if you open the lid and you don't hear a clicking sound when you open and close it you have a problem with the lid switch, there's a plastic plunger part on it that could have broke or moved when it went off balance go here to see it

this is for model number LAT9420AAE you have to send the full model number to look it up.hope this helps,if it's not the lid switch send your question again with the full model number so whoever answers you can look up your model to get the correct parts.hope this helps you out.on some models you can reach in just above the tub and feel the switch to realine it back up but you might have to open up the top console to get at it.

I think that you mean "Agitate" some of the time that you write "Spin" Yes?
If I understand you correctly, you have no agitation during the "wash" cycle, this is almost certainly a corroded agitator shaft seized up in the transmission.

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

It is possible that you need a new timer which is a part number: 22003362 and is usually about $75-$100 but it is also possible that one of the components of the knob is not functioning properly. The best bet is to take the knob apart (make sure the arrow points to a wash cycle first) and then pull up on the time timer shaft itself. If the washer starts then you know its one of the components of the knob that when bad. If it doesn't then you know you need a timer.

Probably best to grease the wheels (called drum support rollers) rather than use WD-40 because that strips away the lubrication. It will also pay to check the drum support glides under the front of the drum. Worst case you may have to replace the support rollers.
