How old is your m wave? Sounds like you need to replace it .You can get a new one from Wal mart for under 75.00.and that will get you the big 1 sq.ft one..I once broke the plate in my m/wave and believe it or not they wanted more for the new plate than I paid for the M/wave BEFORE you do that check your power level settings perhaps it was turned down

It's possible that the unit is overheating, and shutting itself down to make sure that it doesn't melt or burn. Do you have it against a wall, or in a cabinet where the unit cannot vent? Is there a fan? Is it working? --j.

It's likely that the door open lever is broken. It is located behind the control panel, right behind and in contact with the door open button. With power unplugged, you or a friend can remove the screws in the outer wrapper, then lieft up and back to remove it. You can see then the door open button / lever area and you should be able to figure out where to push with a dull knife to pop the door open. Then you can see about getting replacement parts. If your unit has a model tag, it may have company contact information, or you can contact the place you got it (phone is best) to see if you can get parts at all. As it is an older model, I would suspect the magnetron and or capacitor. Maybe the fuse has blown but it will happen again if you just replace it.

I would find someone that repairs and fixes small appliances then. I would search on Google and Yahoo small appliance repairs then.
