Buffalo Technology AirStation G54 WHR-HP-G54 Wireless Router (DHWHRHPG54) Questions & Answers
I have this router but i want to know hoe to
By default, the firewall on it should block all incoming connections from the WAN or internet network port (good thing). Make sure you do two things : 1. Change the default password on the router, and 2. secure your wireless using WPA2 for authentication and AES or TKIP for encryption. Also, rename your SSID to something that doesn't give away that fact that your router is a buffalo. I'm paranoid, so I donot broadcast my SSID...if you are too, then this is a good option.

I have a buffalo air staition g54 and need to change the password how do i do this thanks
Routers have a reset button on them just for such an issue. Remember when you use this button the router will be reset back to factory settings. Look on the back of the router, you should see a little hole with the word reset above it. With the router pluged in, press this reset button (you may need a paper clip to get in the hole). When you release this button, the router should look like it has been powered cycled. At this point the router is reset to factory. You will need to set everything up on it, just like you did the first time you took it out of the box.

Problem with my buffalo airstation G54 WHR-HP-G54
- After unpacking your Buffalo wireless router, connect the ethernet
cable from your jack to the rightmost ethernet port on the back of the
router. This is the blue WAN port labeled "Internet". Next, use another
ethernet cable to connect your computer to the router, using any of the 4
remaining open ethernet ports on the back. Finally, plug the AC adapter
into the power port on the router and plug it into the wall.
- Once the router has been plugged into the network and powered on,
the power light will come on and the other status lights on the front
will go through a series of flashes. Once the leftmost diagnostic light
labeled "Diag" has gone off and the light labeled "Router" has come on,
this means your router has been initialized and is connected to the
network.
- Now open a web browser window and enter 192.168.11.1 in the URL
field and press enter. You will get a prompt to enter a username and
password to access your router settings. You should enter "root"
(without quotes) as the username and leave the password field blank,
then click OK. You are now taken to a page where you can configure your
Buffalo wireless router.
- Click on the Admin Config button on the top right of this page.
Enter a name for your AirStation and click Apply. Wait for the router to
restart with the new setting, you may have to refresh your browser
window.
-
- Next click on the Password button in the small row of choices
under Admin Config. The Administrator name is fixed as "root" however,
you should now choose an Administrator Password (8 characters or less)
and enter it in the two fields provided, then click Apply. Wait for the
router to restart, and you will be prompted to login with the username
"root" and the new password you just set up. If you choose a password
over 8 characters long, you will be unable to login and will have to
reset your wireless router by using the pinhole on the bottom.
- Next click on the Wireless Config button on the top, third from
left. In the small row of choices under Wireless Config, click
Basic(11g). Make sure the box labeled Enable next to the Wireless Radio
setting is checked. For the SSID setting, switch to the second choice
Use: and then choose a name for your wireless network. You should write
this name down and keep it near your wireless router in case you forget
it. Click Apply.
- Next click on the Security(11g) choice under Wireless Config along
the top of the page. For the Wireless Authentication setting, select
WPA/WPA2 mixedmode - PSK. For the WPA-PSK (Pre-Shared Key) field, choose
a password that is between 8 and 63 characters (letters and numbers
only) and enter it here. Click Apply.
- Your Buffalo wireless router will restart and is now configured to connect securely to the Internet.

I have the Buffalo WHR-G125
Hello,
I have seen a similar issue several time created by the cordless phone.
If you have your router too close to your cordless phone, you may have radio interference since both are working on a close bandwidth.
Please move one of the 2 away and tell me if you see any improvement.
regards

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Need wep/security key
log in to the router by typing http://192.168.11.1 into your browser, the default user name is root leave the password blank. The wireless encryption page is available from Home by selecting Wireless Encryption. Here, you can manually select the type of wireless encryption you'd like to use.

Router getting poor connection
Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Not able to log in as root after reset
Remove Power first, then reset, via the little button, if that doesn't work, it maybe because your Cookies, are causing a problem, or maybe the History, delete both. Another way is to use a different browser, say FireFox, Chrome, Safari. in fact you can also type it into the address bar of ordinary windows explorer..http://YouRouterAddressHere I would think the Router is actually resetting if done correctly, if it is , and it still doesn't work, the router has gone faulty.

Wireless keep failing.
It might not be a router issue. If there is a DNS conflict, then check the connection settings on your computer. If possible, automatically assign IP and DNS.
Primary DNS should be the IP of your router or internet gateway (192.168.1.1 or similar). Secondary DNS 4.1.1.1
If your router is connected to the net and you can receive and send data, then the problem will be a local one (LAN rather than WAN).
If all else fails, reset the router and start from scratch.
Wheal :)

I have lost my Network Ket to my AirStation 54G.
To get the network key of your wireless network, you will need to access the rotuerset up.
Is there any computer conencted to the router with the cable ?
If not then is there any computer online through the same router wirelessly ?
You can open the set up page on the working computer.
If you do not have any other computer online then you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable.

No response from the router
If when you now plug the correct power supply in you get no lights then the router is dead. If it is in warranty then you should be OK (I wouldn't mention the 10V power supply!). If not you may find someone to repair it, but it is probably cheaper to buy a new one.
