It should pull right off here is a picture.

sounds like the water pump, pull the housing and look at the bottom center for a oval shape with two hoses.I bet you find the leak there.......GOOD LUCK

This is usually caused by the dual water valve on the back of the machine failing.
It supplies both cold and hot water to the machine.
In your case, it appears the cold water side of the valve has failed.
It is a none repairable item, and you will need to replace the valve which is available at any decent sized appliance parts house.

However, before replacing the valve, make sure the cold water from the faucet is turned on, and with that hose removed, make sure cold water will come out of the hose if you turn the cold water valve on.

Get the service panel off. Then remove 4 large bolts and the washer motor and pump will come out. Put that on a work table and remove the pump.
Then you can replace the belt.

Page 27 of this manual will explain how to remove the motor and pump,then dis-assemble them to replace the belt.
Please double check the procedure before re-installing the pump and motor.

If it was a bad brake assembly the motor would not be able to run when agitating...so I would say it is the switch... or maybe it is the motor...
The motor runs in reverse rotation when it is spinning from what it does when agitating.
Maybe the motor windings are locking when trying to run in the spin rotation....
The other posiblity is that the switch is trying to run the motor in both directions at once in the spin mode....
By using an electric meter you can check the power coming in to the motor and see if you are getting power to the leads for forward and reverse at the same time.
If you are getting high amps when the motor is trying to run on both leads, that is another way to tell.
So...for me it is the switch or the motor...I would probably replace both while I was at it. Then you are sure and have the peace of mind knowing that it will work for a longer time again.

If you have a direct drive top load washer and need help taking it apart this video is an early christmas present. I was so impressed with it that when I saw all these people needing help, I wanted to tell them about it. If you look at the back of your washer and the panel is solid (no small inspection plate to remove which would indicate you have a v-belt drive) chances are you have a direct drive and this video is just what you need. After viewing the video or if you have a v-belt drive rather than a direct drive, I suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good
trouble shooting and repair nformation on most

It is your water pump. If you don't know what you are doing it could be tough.

Maybe this breakdown will help, not sure, hope so.

This is from where your water is pumped out down the drain after the was and rinse cycles. It is attached with a hose clamp. Gain access to the attachment coupling, refit, and tighten the clamp.

sounds like the main bearings have worn.

u may have a loose spring

Spray heavily with coke(soda) and let sit for 24hrs. It should loosen. Used on naval ships for rusted things and somethng in the coke eats away at the metal.
