A lot of people may be searching for help with horrible sounds and burned belts for Maytag and Admiral washers only a few years old from Home Depot etc. They used a cheap pump that has a corrugated sheetmetal ring that holds the bearings. Well as it runs the vibration and friction cause it to slip down and grind on the pulley as well as not turn easily. If you put the washer on it's back and turn the small pulley and it turns with a gritty feel or you can actually see a loose metal collar type ring thing that looks like a cookie cutte; then you have a bad pump.
There is a small access panel on the back of the washer. Three screws and two spring clips on the hoses and you're done (use big pliers on the hoses). Put the belt back on (just push motor to one side, it's not tight), then check for leaks and reinstall the cover. VOILA! You can find the pump on ebay for $25 or your local GE parts dealers for $50.
I have a model sav2655aww maytag washer. And it needs a new belt but I dont know how to replace it! Can the pump be removed with out removeing the motor ? Also the tub keeps going off center whats with that ?
I am not a repair professional. I am just a 78 year old man who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. Therefore the washer ID doesn't mean
anything to me. It's hard to understand why the belt came off. Usually when the belt gets loose and starts slipping, the washer won't spin, and that's the problem. Since you know the belt came off, I'll presume you have the back off, if not then you'll have to remove the back. First thing is to pull the electrical plug. Then disconnect the water hoses after turning off the water supply valves. When you disconnect the hoses, they will be full of water, so have a small bucket handy to catch the water. Now take the back off and get down where you can see how the motor is mounted. It is a common thing for the belt to stretch, so they built in provisions to tighten it. There is a locking nut or bolt which holds the belt adjustment. The motor is mounted so that it can be turned to tighten the belt. Put the belt back on the pulleys and turn the motor to tighten the belt. Since your belt came off, which is unusual, take a good look at it before you put it back on. If it is damaged or stretched so far that you can't tighten it, you'll need to replace it. Use a bar, or a long screwdriver or a large crescent wrench to hold the belt tight while you secure the tension lock. I usually need help when I do this. Sounds like you nailed it, the Tub Seal. It can be a stream or an ocean, either way maytags do leak from that seal pretty often. Removal of the tub is your only option. The price is up to the tech, but this type of repair is considered to be a major fix, and is usually done in a shop.
the belt is shredding because it is not seating correctly. This can be a problem from the pulley... If the pulley is not correctly positioned, it will wobble and the belt will begin to touch other parts and it begins to shred.
Have the pulley adjusted and well seated. Make sure the pulley is well screwed or bolted in the correct manner.
Check the pulley as mentioned above because that is where the problem lies....
Easy job... turn the washer away from the wall and take off the small plate at the back, this is the plate pump is there in corner held in there with 3 3/8 bolts. Remove hoses and remove pump, previouslly you will get some water drain washer
first by gravity.
Remove the clips holding the pump to the motor shaft. Put your bucket under the pump and take the clamps off the hoses. Pull the pump toward you to remove it from the motor shaft.

Start by checking the legs at the bottom. If they are auto leveling they should move freely to absorb the vibrations. If it requires you to level them you can do it by turning the clockwise to shorten them and counterclockwise to make them longer.
clean the drain pipe line remove some foreign object inside the line that coz of blocking water going out,if clean but water not going out you need to replace the drain pump of your unit.lay down the unit check the small motor that connecting to drain line remove the screw and remember the exactly position of the parts before removing,after that buy a new one and return properly and carefully.,remind unplug the unit before anything to do.
