There are only two easy possible reasons:

1) IF it has a earphone jack of some kind it may be damaged or bad.

2) Place your ear to the speaker and turn the sound all the way up to see if you hear anything.


If not a problem with a earphone jack or a bad speaker it will not be economical to repair---for this size set better to just replace it.

The following instructions are for the Emerson EWC1303/1903 tv/vcr. That's the closest match I could find to the Spongebob Squarepants 13' TV
If it's actually in Sleep mode, do the following:

TO CANCEL THE SLEEP TIMER
Press the WAKE UP/SLEEP button on the remote
control until “SLEEP TIMER” appears.
To view the time left for sleep timer press the WAKE
UP/SLEEP button twice, then press the MENU button
on the remote control to exit the sleep timer setting

If unsuccessful, try unplugging the TV for 1/2 hour, then plug it in and try turning it back on either manually or with the remote. Either of these should solve your problem. Best of luck to you!

Surf the site with patience. Check its speaker first. If it is checked OK, check and replace damaged component/s at the audio output section circuit.

You are going to need the original remote unless the set has a input, TV/video, or source button on the front or side.

Hard with the Emerson name to say who actually made this set but they have a long history of using oddball codes so you may be stuck with searching for the original remote, and I would expect a Universal will not program to work on this unit.you might consider Google or Even EBAY for the right remote.

Universals are usually in my view a waste of money--even if they will program they will be missing many key features needed.If old remote lost look for an original--if old remote does not work there are steps to take to repair it.Let me know and I will advise you what to do.

Either in the owner manual (if lost Google the model number with "manual" to try to locate one) are the instructions for this.A harder way is call Emerson and have them step you thru the process.

with the set turned off --unplug it for a few minutes and plug back in which may allow it to reset itself

It depends on what connections the set has and what type of game unit you are trying to use.
