The PV-GS36 uses SD cards. Your 16GB card is an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. to transfer video from your camcorder to your pc you will need a firewire cable (ieee 1394). only with this cable you will be able to transer video.
you will also need a firewire port on your pc.
if you don't have one then you can buy a firewire pci card.

In case anybody read this....     I have a GS-36 that would not eject the tape. I removed all the screws from the bottom and pulled the bottom plate off. Then I fidgeted with the mechanism near the eject button towards the front of the camera.  In my case it had just become stuck and needed to be gently pried open.    Tested it a bunch of times with tape - seems to be o.k.!

Your camera has a 4 pin port on the side of it next to the USB port.....depending on the type of firewire connector on your computer will determine what type of 1394 cable you will need to connect the PC to the camera. Your computer could have a 6 pin or 9 pin connector (I'm betting it has a 6 pin). Get a 1394 cable that is 4 pin to 6 pin and you should be able to connect the two together....that's how I did it with my tower PC and to my laptop with a firewire PCMCIA card.

If you are a Panasonic Camcorder Service department, you will be supplied one but otherwise, they are not available. Sorry, take it to your Panasonic Authorised repair shop.

You could get it repaired at an authorised Panasonic repair shop. Not the sort of repair a layman can undertake.
