We can't get our copier
Hi,
If you are only getting light prints, there could be many reasons for the same. Unfortunately, as i cannot see the machine, i could only suggest few details that i have seen on these copiers.
As it is 6 years old, more likely the fault is with drum unit. You could try cleaning the charge roller with water .Do not touch the drum. ( best to first remove the drum from the unit ).
Try adjusting the image exposure up as far as it will go. Exposure
calibration can also be altered in the 'Additional Functions' menu,
under 'Settings & Adjustments'. Settings can be reset to the center
if no improvement is made.
It's hard to exactly diagnose but worth following the above option and maintenance schedule given by Canon.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
When it prints I have a blank strip up & down
This sounds like it is a charge corona problem. there is a unit that has a thin wire in it, located next to the drum. I have cleaned these, by using a match tip. Light the match, blow it out, then using the burnt end, run it up and down the length of the wire. this will clean it, and allow it to charge the drum. Not sure if you can get to the corona wire. Some copiers have Drum cartridges, and are tough to get to. Hope this helps.
The copier only prints the left side of the page
Sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution. On pretty much all small Canon copiers, the issue of 1/2 blank copies or blank area down the page is the toner cartridge. Just remove the cartridge and shake it from side to side to level out the toner then re-install. This will fix the problem at least 90% of the time.
Thank You for using Fixya.
SEVERAL BLACK HORIZONTAL LINES ON COPIES
You need to locate the source of strikes.
1) remove toner crg., if it has black lines or dirts on drum replace drum.
2) check/clean copy glass
3) use flash light to check fixing section ( Left sideway of copier small doors ) if damadged replace fixing assy.
Repeated paperjams for the canon image class
Paper feeding and ink are two separate problems.
Regarding the paper feeding, check that there is no foreign object stuck in the feeder assembly.Try using different feeders (this macine should have multifeeder), and see if problem is related to feeding a particular paper, and where paper gets stuck. When there is no foreign object and parts are in place, paper getting wrinked in the feeding unit is usually caused by roller problems.
Check that the roller surface is not hard and slippery, in that case the roller loose grip and must be replaced. If problem happens on the feeder entry, then the pick up roller may need to be replaced.
Regarding too much toner, first ensure that the problem is not related to the particular cartridge used. Test using different cartridges and ensure that toner is not refurbished or re-manufactured, but that you are using new original Canon cartridges.
Check settings, toner distribution can be better tested connecting copier to a computer and printing from computer at different resolutions.
If there is toner dust the fixing unit may als be defective.
If there are streaks or dirt, then the copier must be cleaned inside.
As first thing test using diferent cartridges.
Flashing supply rec. paper tray legal
I pressume that you try to prin something out.Is this true?
Turn off and on the copier.Under printer properties, under page setup, mark the appropriate paper size, eg. if in cass. A4, in the drivers must be A4.
Changed toner cartridge and still not printing
First you need to vacume the spilled toner, especially on transfer roller, eaven clean the transfer roller contacts.
Try to reinstall the old crg., shake it so that you may get few copies for checking it. If print is OK then its problem in new crg.
Where do you place the envelope on the printer to
You put the envelope between the adjustable paper guides, with the side you want to print on facing up. Then you have to manually change the paper size by pressing the "Adjustable Functions" button to display "1.Paper Settings." Next you have to press the "Set" button twice, which gives you access to the Paper Size option, where you can select the envelope type with the + and - buttons. After you print your envelope you have to change the paper size back to the size you are using in the tray.
