While the D320 has a scanner, it is used only for making copies. You can connect the D320 to a computer and use it as a printer, but there is no provision for scanning documents to a computer.

It is a cleaning issue. There is a piece of glass about an inch wide that is next to the platen glass or inside the auto document feeder that is probably dirty depending on your model. Open up the document feeder as if you were clearing an original document jam. Look for a piece of glass inside the ADF, it will run the length of the document feeder. There is probably some dirt or another popular problem is white out. Clean off the glass with glass cleaner or alcohol and it should fix the problem.

The error means Scanner Unit Failure. I suggest you check Scanner Unit - ( flat cable or CCD )
