It's not supposed to. The camera comes with a battery charger. Take the battery pack out of the camera, put it into the charger, and plug the charger into a power outlet.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.

Hello the error 5 is a pop up flash issue and normally appears if your pop up flash is not opening properly. Try wiggling the flash open but do it gently! then clean the area it could simply be grit or dirt has got into the mechanism... let me know if this helps....

If you're sure the click is from engaging the flash I suspect the spring or holding mechanism is stuck, maybe dust, dirt somewhere inthere. Can you lift the flash mechanism by hand after the click? If so, you can try and clean it with compressed air.

It is due to some kind of electrical contact failure.

The guy at tech support listened and then told me that the lens contacts were dirty and to get a pencil with an eraser on the end, just a regular old pencil with a red rubber eraser. Detach the lens from the camera, hold it so that the lens’ gold contacts are pointing down and lightly erase their exposed surface, cleaning them of any hand oil that might have gotten on them.

Do the same thing with the gold contacts inside the camera body. This is a bit harder but it’s doable: just hold camera so lens opening points down so no gunk falls in. Erase lightly. I used a lens cloth and dabbed at the contacts rather than blow them so as not to blow the erasings inside the camera.

I did this to each of my three lenses just to be sure. Lo and behold, it worked good luck have a nice day!!! :) :) :)

In either Tv or M mode, simply turn the command dial. In Program AE mode, press the shutter release button halfway and then turn the command dial to shift to different equivalent exposures.
