Can a 16 mb sd card of a canon zr600 be upgraded to 2gb?
Sure. Simply use a larger card. The ZR600 will work with any SD card. Be careful to get an SD card and not an SDHC card. SD cards go up to 2GB (2000MB) in size. SDHC cards look identical but start at 4GB but will not work with this camera.
The screw on the capistan
This is a common problem. The pinch roller is held in place by a plastic sleeve. It will split down the side after a time and come off. allowing the pinch roller to come off the spindle. The plastic sleeve usually becomes lodged in the tape mechanism requiring complete disassembly to retreive.
This can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's notreally a user serviceable problem and should be done by a qualified service technician.

Simply because it won't wrok.
USB will only transfer stills from a cardn not video from the tape.
Use an appropriate firewire cable, also called iLink or IEEE1394.

Meron ba syang USB cord that came with it?Kung meron gamitim mo at ikabit sa camera to the computer.See if the computer detects it (it should).Have you installed a media software that came with the camera,it not this will cause problems in downloading any media you have in the Video camera.Kung wala go to the website ng canon then search the area where you can find support then the download page.There you could download drivers and utilities for the camera.The utility software is where the detection of your camera is done and there you can do what you want to do.

To transfer to a Pc on the ZR600 you will need to use the IEEE1394 port and cable. That will mean however that you will need a compatible port on your PC. Most laptops have this port so it might be easier to transfer to a laptop, burn on disk and then copy onto a desktop. The software that comes with the camera should allow you to do the transfer.

Unable to load cassette..
my opinion ,that it look like a defective cass in switch
or a mechanism alignement defective ,because the servo control chips do not receive the mechanism pulse

Possibly the power management unit needs to be reset - try this: disconnect all power and all batteries from the camcorder, then press AND HOLD the power button down for 30 seconds. Release the power button, then reconnect the camera directly to an AC adapter and see if it turns on.

Look for a Canon log file and it will state what has not been loaded.Sometimes another program will lock a registry key that it is tring to access and you have to manually check it as not read only.

Low resolution on memory card recording, regardless of the storage capacity of the card is just the way it is. If you consult the zr600 users manual (p. 82 of my edition - PUB.DIM-734/1205Ni15.1, c2006) you can find that video recording to the memory card is limited to resolutions of either 320 x 240 or 160 x 120 pixels. These resolutions are pretty poor - disappointingly so seeing that one of the old computer monitor standards used to be 640 x 480 and that 1024 x 768 is common today. I was disappointed too.
