Canon Elura 100 Mini DV Digital Camcorder Questions & Answers
I try to record a video i have on vhs but it stops recording
If you are experiencing issues with your video converter when trying to record a video from a VHS camera, there are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
- Make sure that all of the connections between the VHS camera, the video converter, and the computer are secure and properly connected.
- Check the cables for any visible damage or wear. If the cables are damaged, they may be causing the signal to be lost.
- If the video converter has a separate power source, make sure that it is properly plugged in and functioning.
- Try using a different VHS tape to see if the problem is with the specific tape you are using.
- If the problem persists, you may want to try using a different video converter to see if the issue is with the device itself.
I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

It must be the internal battery problem. Change the button cell that is located near the charging input jack.
Picture during playback is badly distorted
There could be several reasons for badly distorted pictures. considering the age of the unit as DV camcoder which I am guessing would be quite a bit. Most likely the heads have worn out and need replacement. I am assuming you have this problem with newly recorded tapes being played on a TV directly from the camcorder. For this you may also need to check if you are using new tapes and whether the recording mode is PAL or NTSC as per the TV format.
Alternate test would be to play back a previously recorded tape back from the camcorder. That way at least you can establish if the problem is the read head or the write head or the tape itself.
Cant put tape in camcorder
Then remove the tape and check it in another camcorder.....
............. Very simple.
If the tape works fine in another camcorder then throw this camcorder. Let me know the location where you will through it.
:-)
Remove The Casette Message
THESE CAMERAS ARE PEICES OF ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I suggest that no body buys from cannon again!!
I am suppose to record my sister-in laws wedding and BOTH of my ELURA 100's are displaying the EJACT TAPE message!
"TEMP. FIX"
This takes pateince however for me it works....When you get the EJECT TAPE mesage....eject the battery with the power on (thus the power will go off by means of the battery not being in camera) then slap the battery back in....and KEEP doing this untill eventually the camera will NOT DISPLAY the message and actual work.
It may take up to 20 trys ....slap it in..slap it out...slap it in slap it out...BUt for me it works.
If it appears to work but as you hit the RECORD button it beeps and displays the EJECT tape message again...Go back and eject the battery again and repeat the STEPS...but dont worry , that means your getting closer to it working.. LOL
P.s- I hate CANON
I have a Cannon Elra
This can be caused by several problems including the transmission gear in the tape mechanism not engaging properly, a dislodged pinch roller, a faulty rotary mode switch or a defective clutch in the take-up spool and will require disassembling the camera to repair. This can usually be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a really user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

I was importing video from this spring and noticed
Hi,
I'm sorry to know that the transferred videos are not transferring the audio along with it. I'll be glad to assist you with this.
Please make sure that the videos are playing back normally in the Camcorder. If the video and audio works normally in the Camcorder, then it can be transferred to the Computer without any issue. In that case, I suggest that you try transferring the videos using a different Software or else you can try a different Computer. This should resolve the issue.
Please let me know if you require any further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.
