Maytag PYE2300AY Electric Dryer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Play in the motor shaft, up and down
the bearing of the motor are worn out. I think you will need to buy a replacement. TO my knowledge the individual parts for the motor are not readily available (I hope I am wrong about the parts...)
Pye2000ayw maytag dryer has been working fine,
The most common reason it wont run or start is because the door switch has failed or came loose, Then there is a belt sensor that turns off when the belt comes loose or breaks. If the fuse you are talking about opens, the issue will be no heat but it will run
Dryer cord hook up help
when you're in the back of the dryer, slide your cord through the metal bracket, stick the middle wire to the middle block connector, stick the right side cord wire to the right side of the block with the yellow and black wires and stick the left side of the cord to the left side of the block, now if you only see two connectors on the block then you have to buy a new block because the right side that had the yellow and black wires cooked and most likely damaged the block,so when you get the new block hook the yellow and black wires together on the right side of the block with the right side of your cord and then stick the other wires that are there in the same place on the new block with your cord, there should be one or two white wires in the middle and a blue or red wire on the left side but just take them off and put them on the same way as they are now onto the new block and you should be fine, hope this helps you out.
My Maytag dryer model pye2300 stopped working one
The timer on your dryer is more than likely bad. You already know what the timer is and where located. Not really that high priced thru ebay or an appliance repair outlet. Usually just a screwdriver and a small socket is all you need to change. Great sense of accomplishment when you finish and it works while saving a lot of $$$$. Stan
Dryer will not start when start knob is pushed
Without much more info all I can say is that it could be several things. First I would check your door switch to see if it looks damaged in any way or if something got stuck in it. Then I would check the knob by pulling it off and seeing if any gunk or dryer link has gotten stuck behind it. After that, you can start checking for blown fuses in the back which may need a repair call if you have never taken the back off of a dryer before. Also always check the tube going out of the back of the dryer to the outside. If it's not cleaned periodically it can cause clothes to not get dry and other problems.
Maytag dryer-thermal fuse how to change?
Go to Partselect.com. they will ask for model number and serial number of your dryer. They have every single little part for appliances but better yet they have video's on how to make the repairs. They also have schematics for every conceivable appliance made. the prices are very reasonable and the customer service is top notch!
When replacing coils how do I know I'm getting the right size
Best thing to do is have both your model number and serial number with you when you order or buy the heating coil. If you are buying from a store they should be able to look it up and make sure it is the right one. Most online places you have to put in your model number and then they will bring up a diagram of your unit and a list of parts and then you just scroll down and find the part you need.
Overheats and turns off on timed setting
Is the drum turning? Also, the blower wheel on these tend to wear out and not hold the shaft of the motor. If the blower wheel does not turn with the motor then it will over heat. I am here if you need more help.
Dryer won't start when start button is pressed
does outlet have power? if yes check DOOR SWITCH look on door for door switch lever then on dryer were it will hit switch. you can try to press it with a screwdriver or something while turning on sryer start. also you can bypass the switch by taping the wires together and see if it then works. switches are cheap.
Replace motor procedure
Are you sure it is not the belt? If so, this is still fairly easy. Lay the dryer on it's back and the motor is held in with tension "springs" Release with a pliers/screwdriver and replace.
Replace belt
You can order a replacement belt if you know the make and model. Best to have a helper when replacing as it is hard to hold everything in place single handed. Are you sure it is the belt? Need to lift the top and remove the front in most front loaded "simple" dryers.
How do you remove the drum?
A couple screws on the top of the back of the unit, then remove the front of the unit, there is a few more screws holding it together. You should be able to pry part of the top off and then be able to see the other screws. Also open the door and remove the screws holding it on. once the entire front is off, you should have access to the drum inside. take the belt off the pulley and remember how it goes on for reinstall later, then pull drum out.
