First of all, thank you very much for choosing FIXYA today for your online technical support needs. Canon Imageclass D661 printer is

How old or how much use does this machine get? The older/more use it gets, the more likely it is to start making random noises and squeaks. It could be a lose belt or just need some lubrication, but it's hard telling where exactly it would need the maintenance. As long as it's printing and copying fine, I wouldn't worry too much about it since it doesn't sound detrimental.

Hope this helps!

We are receiving code E110,

This error signals that the laser scanner motor is not responding to commands properly. If it scans then the defect isn't in the motor itself but in its mechanism - it's worn out and the transmission belts slip .
The entire mechanism will have to be replaced - a job for a dealer, they are the only ones with access to replacement parts.

What causes my copier pages to have black smudges

Black smudges are usually caused by a defective or worn out drum. When the drum gets a fingerpirnt, any kind of oil, or anything else that causes the static charge to not hold the toner to the paper, the toner will not go where it is supposed to in order to create the image on the paper and it will cause smudges, streaks or lines.

System error code E000 on

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error E000 means low temp detected in the fuser unit, Faulty thermistor, lamp or PCB. Check fuser for jammed paper. It’s an issue related to the fuser unit. Try and clear the error by entering the service mode:

  1. Press ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS, #
  2. Go to #7 Printer and press OK
  3. Go to #4 Printer Reset and press OK
  4. Yes = ( * )
  5. Power cycle unit.

If this does not help, on most units you have to start looking at your Fixing Assy. or Thermistor. Make sure that you do not have a piece of paper wrapped around Upper Fixing Roller or and other foreign substance in that area. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Getting ghost images on copies, meter reading is

Ghosts are normally caused by the fuser but with such a low meter, we'd look elsewhere. Try changing paper or feeding a regular sheet through the bypass tray at a card stock setting.

If the ghosts disappear then that proves that the fuser issues are the best suspects. The fuser/ fixing assembly PN is FG6-7947-150 if it ends up that it's bad.
