I need to buy all

Canon cartridges can be refilled. I buy my ink on ebay from user - dprintersink - the ink comes with full instructions and are easy to fill.

Sometimes you need to reset your print counter. I'll give the reset instructions now, so you will be ready if it is needed. These will work on many Canon models.

1. Disconnect the power cable.
2. Hold down "On/Off" button.
3. Reconnect the power cable.
4. With the power button still down, press the "Stop/Reset" button twice.
5. Release the "On/Off" button.
6. The printer is now in "factory mode".
- wait until "idle" is displayed.
7. Press the right arrow button (next to the "OK" button) repeatedly until "Shipping Mode 3" is displayed.
8. Press the "OK" Button
9. Wait until "Without Cleaning" is displayed and then presss the "Stop/Reset" button once. (I pressed the ok button after Stop/Reset button on my MP470).
10. A test page should print.
11. Open the cover.
- the cartridges should position themselves at the far left - the cartridge removal location.
12. Disconnect the power cable.
13. Remove both cartridges.
14. Close the cover.
15. Reconnect the power cable.
16. Press the "On/Off" button once.
17. Wait until a "Replace Cartridges" message is displayed.
- insert cartridges.
18. Wait until the printer is operating in its normal mode. The display shows the normal start menu (ie: Copy).
The ink levels have been reset.
- check by going to printer>properties>maintenance>view printer status

I have downloaded a driver

1. Locate the Waste Ink Pads on the inside of your printer. They are on the right hand side and are quite small. 2. You can remove the pads and the holder with a gentle pull. 3. Using a tissue, soak up as much ink as possible and clean the area around the waste ink area. 4. There is one more waste holder in the right back bottom of the printer. A kind of sponge. There are few screws and plastic parts to be removed and this sponge needs to be washed, dried and placed again. Be careful and patient. This is no understatement. On the iP1500 this requires the dismantling of most of the printer. Take a photograph (even with your cell phone) so you can trace back your steps. On the iP1500 the drive motor on the side (Just behind the waste ink pads) has to be removed to get to the main sponge. You also need to take care as you lift the slide/carriage. Below this you find 5 little springs. 5. Carefully replace the holder and the pads. Close printer. 6. While the printer is disconnected from the main power, press and hold the power button and reconnect to ac power. 7. Release the power button. 8. Press the power button again.
Tip: If you find it difficult to re-install the pads, use a thin set of tweezers to put the pads back in. If you do not want to get ink on your hands wear latex gloves.

I have a canon MP550

It is my pleasure to guide you.

I have done some extensive research on your 'error 6C10'.

I have looked at the following:

I realize that the '6C00' error is not exactly your but the manual does not have the 6C10. You can download that at the above link.

I also look at the http://www.retrevo.com/support/Canon-MP500-Multifunction-Printers-manual/id/259bh640/t/2/ Canon Pixma MP500 Users Guide Manual. There are several codes but not the 6C10. You can download this above as well.
Good luck and please post back that you are successful, giving thumbs up, or if I can be more helpful.

I have an error on

i would like to suggest that u should not use any alternate cartridges, plizz buy the originally manufactured ones, else ur printer could get damaged! the reason being that the ink head of some compatible cartridges short circuited very easily compared to the genuine ones, and a fake cartridge could damage ur printer in an instance! so, be careful!

Service error code 6A00 Have disconnected power to

This error refers to the sheet feeder unit. there is nothing you can do to correct it but fit another sheet feeder. To be honest you would be far better to replace the machine as only a trained Canon engineer would know how to do this. there is a critical alignment proceedure to follow and if not done correctly first time it will strip the gears teeth off the new sheet feeder. i am one such engineer and i have wrecked a couple of sheet feeders myself. ughhhh

What is code 5100 error

Error Code 5100

It can have a lot to do with some obstruction in the print path, the gears, or ink on the clear plastic encoder strip. The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) was not lubricated well enough from factory. If you lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps) the mechanism can now slide more freely, and the unit can park the head properly without giving you the dreaded head homing error 5100 (or E-2-2 on the LCD display) Keep in mind that this repair will probably require you to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism. There are two screws behind the printer, and two in front for each corresponding side panel (the front screws are behind the grey front panel of the printer - open the top cover to see the clips which hold the front cover on) Hope this helps some of you out.

Also try:

Opening up the case so you can get to the side where the power pack is located and then disconnecting the small plug connecting it to the printer circuit boards, wait 10 seconds, reconnect the plugs again the printer and then re-connect the external power lead. Pixma mp500 error code 6A00

Hi there,

There are many reasons to get the 6A00 Error..

Check for few solutions i have found.

Solution 1

I think the 6A00 is a mechanism jam code.

Regarding Error code 6A00. I have a Canon Pixma iP5000. I got that code. No easy answers on the net so I took it apart myself. The covers are all snap locked on. It was a bit painful but I got the side and top covers off to reveal the print head. There is a device that slides back n forth and acts like a window cleaners squeegie on the printhead. This mechanism seemed to be stuck at its full extention rather than being back at home base. Every time I turned it on and off I could see it tried to move but seemed to be stuck. I gave it a little assistance and that released it. I think it had become blocked up with drying ink and that had acted like a glue holding it out at full extension. The mechanism that drives the sliding squeegie relies on a spring
for it to return. The spring wasn't strong enough to over come the gluey ink and so the whole thing jammed up which is probably what the code means - jammed mechanism. If you are going to try it. Do not force any part of the covers. There are little arrows in the plastic indicating where the snap locks are, stick a flat head screw driver in to release. Trial and error will release the right ones first. You'll release one part only to find it hooked up at the next snap lock. Some are hidden under or on opening covers so keep looking. The base seems to be securly attached to the workings so don't try and get it off. Just top and sides. Ink is water based so a damp rag is all you need to clean.

Solution 2

the problum is a paper was stuck if you open the right side of the printer where your memory card slot is.make shure that you have two screws in your hand one is when you open the printer and one is by the computer port, well you open that up and you will find a white thing that locks where your ink goes, there should be a small little peace of paper there
And also make to use gloves there could be ink on that paper i had black ink allover my hands,

Solution 3

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam. Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code. As a Canon tech, I usually find the code, almost 90% of the time, is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move. Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like. And yes I have found all those things in a purge unit. The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement. A Pixma MP830 would still be under Canon warranty, get it into a shop and save yourself the hassel.
Incidently, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model. And its always a paper path error or purge unit.
I forget myself so here goes, the purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing. That is why you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it. It also has a an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

Regards,
Ron
