my screen is completely black but sumtimes it lights up for a sec. dunno wut to do

Check all wires and connections. If u confirm power reaching the innards of unit then there is an issue with the power supply of printer.

I think I have come up with a solution!

When the error happens:

Open the cover and re-seat the cartridge.
Tilt the whole printer forward about 30 degrees or more
Close the cover.

This has worked for me multiple times now. I think there is a small sensor behind the contact chip that detects ink levels and when my printer is flat the level of ink is lower than the sensor, when I tilt the printer the error vanishes because the ink covers the sensor. Though I am not sure why the software in the printer determines that there are duplicate cartridges instead of just a low ink warning.

If you still can't get it try taking a standard pencil eraser and gently rub it over the contacts to clean off any oxidation, also do this to the prongs that contact the chip that are inside the cartridge carrier, They bend easily so do it very lightly.

Error code 5100 /this error is an error within the printer. This error means that there is
something obstructing the printing process. Check inside your printer through the gears that
you can see under the lid. There should be something obstructing the gears such as dirt or
in my case popcorn. Check VERY thoroughly.

(1) Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over (2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head. (3) Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water or isopropyl alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head and each ink cartridge. (4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. (5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges (6) Try to print something now If that does not work, then you need to try soaking the print head. In this case: (1) Remove the print head from the printer (2) Soak it in hot water for an hour or so (3) Remove it, let it dry completely (4) Replace the print head and cartridges and test it

The manual reset Method for CANON MP500 is given below, Follow every step carefully

Press and hold STOP/RESET button.
Press and hold POWER button.
Release STOP/RESET button without releasing power button.
Click STOP/RESET two times and then release power button.

Now your printer enter into service mode. Now

1. Prepare paper on the paper tray
2. Press Stop/reset button for 1 times and then press power button, await till printer finished print.
3. Press Stop/reset button for 2 times and then press power button, await till printer finished print again.
4. Press Stop/reset button for 3 times then press power button to reset EEPROM.
5. Press Stop/reset button for 4 times then press power button to reset Waste Ink Counter.
6. Switch off the printer. if printer doesn't turn off, press button power until printer off.

if you worry about wrong colors
it is possible you 3 colors cartage has mis a color it is maybe red,green,are yellow, refill your cartage and print again

The inner cover is a flap on the inside in front of the carriage when it is at rest when the cover us open. You had to flip the inner cover down to access the ink cartridges.
Open the cover. The inner cover is in the center and need to be flipped up.

probably an ink cartridge problem..Try executing nozzle check on the maintenance tab on printer and faxes then check the results if it prints properly. if there is still a problem deep cleaning is recommended and if it doesn't work then its the time to replace both black and color ink cartridges.

There is always a reson. Try checking that the cartridge you installed is the correct one for your printer. Some refurbished also cause this problem as they have been recycled too many times.

do you have the printer drivers installed on the originating device? have you connected it to your network?

With wireless printers you generally don't need to share them through windows. There should be a driver that you install on each device that will help you setup the wireless printer. Another common issue with most printers on a home network is that they get assigned a dhcp provided IP address and of the lease expires and gets consumed by another device then all your print jobs will end up going to the other device. It's sort of like the printers rental agreement comes to an end and has to move house but hasn't updated its address details. To fix this you setup a reservation on your router or set a manual IP address in the printer settings (just make sure the manually entered address doesn't get used by dhcp so male or serving high. E.g. 192.168.0.123). I know canon found a way around this by using a unique DNS name along with a network update tool so it didn't matter of the printer got a new address, not sure about HP though.
