Was working and shut off.

These dryers are notorious for a loose blower wheel.

The thermal fuse is located to the right of the heater and is held to the side of the heater by the same screw that holds the heater element down:

Wont heat

First make sure both of the breaker switches for the dryer are on at your electrical service panel. There are two, both together, usually, sometimes they are connected together, sometimes they aren't. If one is flipped, the dryer will run but not heat. Secondly, unplug and plug the power cord for the dryer to make sure the connection isn't loose. If none of that works, unplug the dryer and take the top off. That usually requires removing a few screws and popping the top off. There is often a single ground wire that runs to a connector screwed directly to the top of the housing over the drum. If that wire is okay I would either call a professional repairman, or obtain a repair manual for the dryer, as there is either a heating element that is bad or a switch.

My dryer makes a loud

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, or the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley.
If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch.
Remove the lint filter, and the two screws that hold the lint filter housing to
the top of the lid.
Then remove the top of the dryer. Most lids clip on to the base of the machine,
some slide off.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove
the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket
with pulley, and motor with pulley.
Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go
to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum
not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum
rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3
in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting
noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots
on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise.
You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

HYE3658AZW MAYTAG DRYER WILL NOT

the thermal fuse is on the back of the dryer and has two wires connected to it, easiest way to tell is to disconnect fuse tape wires together and start dryer, if it works then the fuse is the problem. You will need to disconnect the wires as it is a safety feature and if ran with it bypassed it will start a fire. Remember SAFETY First unplug dryer before working on it, Good Luck Tim:

How do I clean the

you need to unplug the dryer, then with a putty knife stick it in between the top panel and the front panel and there are clips one on each side that you release with the putty knife and remove the front panel or you could have two 5/16 inch screws on the bottom of the front panel but i believe your model has the clips, when you remove the front panel you need to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, vac out the inside cabinet where the motor is,put it back together then pull out the dryer and remove the vent line from the rear,if it's a long run to the outside you can stick a leaf blower inside the vent line and blow all the lint out to the outside hood, before you blow it out go outside and make sure the hood is clear then blow out the line,

Dryer hasn't been drying very

Your instinct is right, the thermal fuse where the neutral line for the drum light and motor terminates is blown. It is located on the right hand side of the heater housing and is mounted on a bracket at the rear top of cabinet. Lift the top panel and there is a 1/4" hex-head screw that holds both the heating element bracket and the thermal fuse bracket. Remove the said screw and the thermal fuse bracket can be lifted off. The top panel can be released from the front panel by inserting a putty knife blade against the locking clips that hold them together.

Figure 2: The screw and the thermal fuse.

fcd83c7.jpg

Figure 3: The screw removed. The thermal fuse bracket has locating tabs at the bottom and at the middle, lift the bracket to clear the tabs and remove it. Install the new thermal fuse in reverse order.

Test the continuity of the thermal fuse and replace at if no continuity along with the thermostat. You can bypass the thermal fuse for troubleshooting purposes if you don't have a tool for testing continuity. Join the wires together or jump a wire between them then insulate them properly. Plug in and start the dryer, The thermal fuse is indeed blown if the dryer runs.
