Dryer will not heat-mdg7400aww

First make sure the entire vent work is clean free from lint build up. By removing the vent from the dryer run it and see if you get heat inside the dryer after three minutes of running If you can watch the burner box during ignition safely (some have a window and some you can remove the front and still have the drive mechanism in tact) you should be able to narrow it down.

What is supposed to happen is the igniter will glow then go out and at the same time the flame should light.

If the igniter isn't glowing and the igniter isn't bad (I am assuming it isn't because it is new but you never know) the ignition system isn't getting power, which is most likely the thermo fuse but can be the timer or a loose connection.

If the igniter will glow but it doesn't go out the flame sensor is most likely the problem.

For what it is worth flame sensors do not fail often while thermo fuses are very common problems.

If you do find that the thermo fuse is bad check the vent because a clogged vent will cause the fuse to blow.

Pulled out knob on dryer

If you are having dryer problems and you cannot even get the thing to start, then you might want to start going through this check list of possibilities. There are a number of things that can cause your dryer to not run.

A couple of the most common problems are the thermal fuse has blown or the door switch is not operating properly. On many dryers if the thermal fuse blows, the dryer will not run at all. This fuse can be checked with an ohm meter. It should show continuity if it is okay. If there is no continuity then you need to replace it and also find out what else failed. This is a safety device that usually blows because something else allowed the dryer to get too hot. It is usually located in the back of the dryer, on the blower housing. Some are oval in shape and others are rectangular, usually with two wires attached.

A defective door switch or a bent door switch lever can also cause you to have problems. If the lever is broken or bent it will not activate the switch. If the switch is broken, this also will not allow the dryer to be started.

The push (or turn) to start switch can go bad, but is unlikely. To check this, hold it in or turn it and then check to make sure you have continuity with an ohm meter.

If the dryer starts and then stops when the switch is released check the control board or the ?even heat? control on some model dryers. Some dryers have a belt break switch that can fail or your belt may be way loose or broken.

Check for burn marks or burnt wires at the terminal block on your dryer, poor connections can cause all kinds of problems. Also poor connections can cause fires.

A bad power cord also falls into this same category.

Of course, always check that you have the proper voltage to the outlet that you are plugging into.

Clothes do not dry fast on regular cycle

your clothes may not be drying fast on a cycle due to a build up of lint in your dryer this is a tip i wrote at this link click here http://www.fixya.com/support/r8732702-prolong_life_dryer by removing the rear shroud you should find quite a bit of lint build up in your unit. This is the area that the lint you are not able to remove packs in and stops the air from going through the blower which makes your unit produce very nice heat if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations in the future thanks again I await if you have any further questions Rick

The start knob doesn't engage when pulled.

Take the knob off and try using pliers to pull the stem. Don't pull any harder than you would with the knob. If it works, you just need a knob. If it still won't engage, you need a timer.

Maytag Atlantis gas dryer, tumbling,

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

If you have already tried cleaning the vent then the problem is with the Thermal fuse. When the thermal fuse goes bad it cannot be reset and replacing it is recommended repair. It is located on the blower wheel housing inside the rear panel to the exhaust duct. You can test the fuse for continuity before replacing, if the fuse is fine then please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Dryer will start to heat but will stop heating

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Here is the rest of this tip about Dryer Maintenance

MOST LIKELY THE BANG WAS WHEN THE BELT BROKE. YOU NEED TO PULL THE DRYER OUT, OPEN IT UP AND REPLACE THE BELT. A SERVICE APPLIANCE REPAIR WILL NEED TO BE CALLED. - - SORRY
