Maytag M7Y15F2A Air Conditioner Questions & Answers
No power to thermostat
First check the safety of the air conditioner in the electrical panel of the house, then Check if the socket has power that you put the extension cord and placed an interference power from other priza.an everything is OK then something is going to board the air conditioner
Kenmore model 58072187300 a/c and heat window
Toget proper heat, keep your temp setting at 30+ degree and also mode in "heat"position. If still no heat, check your heating sensor for closed circuit by anOHMs metre. It it's with RV, check power to RV.If it's with heating element check power toelement. If power is there but still no heat means element defective. Replacenew heating element. Thanks
My air conditioner turn off
A few basic principles for air conditioner troubleshooting. For both central home air conditioner or window air conditioner,
the first thing to check is whether the unit is getting proper power.
If the unit uses 220 volt power be sure that the proper voltage is
getting to the unit. Same for 110 volt units. A voltage meter can be
used to assure that the voltage is correct. For window air conditioning units the voltage can also be checked before and after the thermostat.
If voltage is being supplied to the thermostat but not from it then the
thermostat probably needs replaced. This is a fairly common problem.
Another place to check is the fan motor voltage. The fan on window air conditioners runs both the indoor blower and the condenser fan. If that motor fails than the compressor
may run for a short time, but will overheat and shut off. Continued
operation like this will result in compressor failure. This motor can be
economically replaced for larger window air conditioners, but for
smaller ones the cost of replacement will be more than a new unit.Central air conditioners
for the home are more complex and there are more things that can go
wrong. As with the window air conditioner the thermostat can also be a
problem. The central air conditioner thermostat will only have 24 volts going to it. So don't look for high voltage there. Some units the voltage will be coming from the outdoor unit and others the voltage will be supplied by the indoor air handler or furnace. Most home central air conditioning will be supplied by the indoor air handler or the furnace. If the air conditioner is for cooling only the unit will usually have only two wires going to the condenser unit. Make sure that you have 24 volts across those wires. The
next thing to check will be the indoor blower. If your thermostat is
calling for cooling then the indoor blower should be running. If there
is no air moving across the indoor cooling coil then you will soon have a big block of ice formed on the coil.
This can happen for a few reasons. The indoor blower is not working,
the air flow is restricted and not allowing air to move across the coil.
A clogged air filter would also do this. Or the outdoor condenser unit has lost the charge of refrigerant. Finally and worst of all is when you have a complete compressor failure. Often when this happens the compressor will "lock up" or not be able to turn when power is supplied to it. Overheating or lack of lubrication are usually the main causes of compressor failure. Overheating can be caused by the outdoor coil around the compressor getting clogged with dirt, leaves, or grass. Loss of the refrigerant charge will also cause the compressor to overheat. It is the cool return gas coming back to the compressor that helps to keep it from overheating. As
you can see there are many things that can go wrong with an air
conditioner and I have not come close to exhausting the possibilities
here. I have just touched on the most common problems in a very basic
way.
There are some basic trouble shooting things that can be done very easily. Most
problems are above out of the range of comfort for many homeowners and
professional help should be consulted before any attempt is made at
repairs. Remember also, that the release of refrigerant gases into the atmosphere is a federal offense in the US. Proper care must always be taken to minimize the release of any gases. A license is also required to handle refrigerants. Make sure that the professional you call has the proper certifications to handle refrigerants properly.

The lowest setting is 66 and it does not cool my
Hello,
I would advice you add freon on the air conditioner because when such device is low on freon, the cooling rate will be reduce drastically, also, in addition, i suggest you get the air pressure pump to blow both the surface and inner part of the air conditioner because when dust are clog on the surface, it affects the cooling, with this, i believe the performace should improve.
Take care and thank you for contacting fixya.
Cord and plug where A/c unit is plugged into is
Your unit needs a plug that is on it's own circuit. As it draws alot of amps. So anyother device take it out of the circuit. Now that is to fix the warm plug problem. And the ice up coils is another problem, if you can take it out of window and remove the cover can you examine the coils? Sounds like it needs cleaned very well. with garden hose and let it dry out good before setting it back in window. Let me know how it goes okay..... ken
Remote sends signal a/c/ won't respond,also
as for the remote, with a nail board (used for finger nails) lightly sand off the battery and battery contacts, with this file because such low voltage 3 v.d.c.(on the remote control) any corrosion on contacts even tho you can't see it can't pass current needed for proper operation/as for the compressor, replace the start relay and overload on the A/C unit and you should be good to go again

Maytag window units are made by Fedders. Try going to the fedders website and get their contact info and call them. They should be able to give you a replacement number or tell you where you can get one. Plus, if you have a company around you that sells hvac motors, like United Refridgeration they may have a motor for your unit. But you have to remove yours and take it to them for a possible match.
Punctured an air-conditioner Freon line
when the freon is released from the unit, you have to repair the leak, pull a vacumm to rid any moisture in system then refill with freon,if you dont have the equipment,it would be cheaper to just replace the unit
Maytag A/C window unit
Check all of the connections at the outlet. If everything looks ok test the outlet that it is plugged into with a tester. They can be picked up at most stores for around 8 dollars. If you dont have a tester you can just plug in another device that you have into the outlet and see if it turns on. If everything checks out OK then there is an issue with the A/C unit. It could be alot of different things. My recommendation to you is if it is under warranty contact Maytag and send it in for service. If it is not under warranty you can either contact Maytag and send it in for service or you can call a local heating and cooling shop and see if they can service it for you. Keep me posted - Tech101
No power surge
first try to clean the unit, if the problem was still there and does not give a cooling, now the unit must have to be filled again with a preon, this could be nothing in there and to be replace..
Clean unit
could be leak out or its probably empty and need to be fill it again... its not really expensive, and doing that you may need a experience aircon/refrigeration service tech.
Tried changed settings
yes... how old is the unit now..? have you experience a powersurge or a flactuatiating of power on your area...?
thanks
