Maytag M3DH30B2A Dehumidifier - Page 3 Questions & Answers
My dehumidifier compressor runs and then shuts
Part of the problem may be that you have the humidity level set to high. The fan runs constantly to move the air around. When the unit senses a humidity level higher than what you have it set for, the compressor turns ON. Once it's ON, if the humidity level is short lived, it turns OFF.
Try setting the humidity level to the lowest possible setting. Usually, that 45%. If the humidity level in you home is higher than that, the compressor should turn ON and run until either the bucket is full or the humidity level reaches 45%. If this doesn't solve the problem, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit from the wall outlet for 12-15 minutes. Plug the unit bakc in, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and set the humidity level at it's lowest setting. Allow the unit to run until it cuts OFF and check the bucket for water. Hopefully that 12-15 minute time out allowed the unit to reset itself.
Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.
How do you put floater device back in water tank
It should just snap back into place, inside the small compartment in the top left of the water tank.
When you snap it back into place it should be able to move freely, up and down.
Hope this helps you.
Should the dehumidifier be blowing air out? It is
Unless the water level sensor is not working and you have the humidity setting low enough to call the fan should be running. If not then check water level sensor or float control to make sure they are working. Make sure the float is free to move if so equipped. If not clean and free up float.I would turn control dial up all the way and see if you can hear it trying to run. Turn it up and down several times. Also if you have a volt meter check to make sure you have incoming power to control and fan motor. Before I spent the money on a new motor I would bypass control and wire straight to motor.Try to isolate problem by process of elimination instead of just replacing parts till you find the right one. I have done this to many times and ended up spending more in parts and alot more in frustration, then the unit was worth to start with. Thank you.
Bought a Maytag 65 pint
You can find the manual and the parts online a Sears Parts Direct. However, when you enter the model number, drop the *A off the number.
FYI - This unit was made for Maytag by Fedders. And they make one of their own, with the same model number.
Hope this helps you.
The dehumifier is running but
The operation a dehumidifier is based on the amount of humidity, the house or room where you have it placed. If the humid level is low and you have the humidifier set on a low extraction setting, there would be little to no water in the bucket. However, if you have all the settings correct and you still don't get water in the bucket, the top 2 reasons for this are: The Filter needs cleaning and # 2 the drain tube or hole is clogged. The solution for cleaning the filter is a no brainer. The solution for unclogging the drain tube or hole is not that difficult. You will need a 12" to 20" long Plastic Zip Tie (or something similar, but no wire coat hangers), that's small enough to go through the drain tube or hole. When you remove the bucket look up and into the compartment that the bucket came out of and you will see the drain tube or drain hole. Slowly and carefully push the zip tie into the hole and continue to work it into the hole until you reach the curve in the tubing. This is the tricky part. Carefully and gently work it past the curve and about 4" more. Then start removing the Zip Tie as you slowly rotate it. This will dislodge any clogs. As you continue to pull it out, be prepared for water to follow it. If you have water draining out, your problem is solved.
If none of the above solved your problem, the condenser unit may be low on refrigerant. In which case, you will need a pro to service it.
Hope this information helps to solve the problem.
Compressor keeps turning on and off, I can hear
If when it's running it dims the lights in the room or entire house, The circuit breaker for the receptacle it's plugged into, is not a high enough amperage to carry the dehumidifier and whatever other electrical appliances that are on the same circuit. OR if your house is hold enough (1970's era), it may have aluminum wiring and its overheating .
If it's blowing the Main Circuit Breaker for the entire house and not just the circuit breaker for the receptacle it's plugged into, Stop using the dehumidifier immediately!!! Have an certified electrician check your home's circuit breaker panel and wiring. This could be a dangerous situation.
