Run the printer through the head cleaning cycle and then print a test sheet to see if you get the proper pattern. You may have to do this several times. If the printer is seldom used the head nozzles get clogged. There is also a calibration cycle and that is used if the lines don't line up properly.It's in the manual or can be obtained from Epson online.

on a colour printer, black is mixed with the other colours. Try printing a black and withe photo and you always get a colour cast. If your black cartridge is empty or the nozzles are blocked, you get bad colour and fussy prints. test all nozzles, like is explained in the manual. Check, if you know how to do, if nothing fell in the printer, that is now on the print head. Sometimes just dust or paper scraps are picked up by the printhead, making it difficult for the printer to print a normal page.

Although the photos are saved as .JPG, is there an issue with the physical size of them ? Perchance, should the loaded image exceed the size of the paper loaded, the printer may not be able to print it.

No you don't have to buy a new printer :-) for a few pence /cents you can buy an adapter from eBay.

You may have a finger getting into the area in front of the lens.

The D7000 doesn't have wireless capability on its own. However, depending on how your printer is configured, you could use an Eye-Fi card to send your pictures to be printed.

It's ancient, worthless and totally obsolete. Spare parts will be impossible to obtain. Repairs will be completely uneconomical if you have to pay for them in any way (parts or labour).

In short, you have absolutely nothing to lose by trying a DIY repair, and even if it fails (highly likely) you gain valuable experience for when you next attempt such a repair.

BTW: the Epson 850z is not an SLR. The optical viewfinder does not take it's image from the same lens used to take the picture.

There may be many possibilities that can cause this.Here is what you can check: Initially remove the battery and reinsert it again and check if it works.also try using other battery if you feel battery might have gone faulty. Also possible that the switch may hve gone faulty or the internal connection to switch is loosened up.
Open the device and check if the switch is internally stuck.if the connections are faulty,Just resolder the connections properly and try again.if the switch looks damaged or faulty internally.Replace the switch.

why do you need the drivers for by the way? is it for transferring picture / videos from the camera to your computer?

olympus did not create drivers for the device but only the application to manage the media. looking forward to your reply.
