I have the MSI RG54G3

all manuals for routers are free all manuals are on line, all are. for sure under 10 years old or even older most. yours is 2005 made a real relic now. 13 years old for you and now 17 years old. no 2 routers work the same why (settings or features all) you did the long reset (at button) so the router is now back to day1, new in the box state so only cure is the manual now I will google it for you, 10 sec work the manual is at MSI.com but is slow to navigate there,so I am lazy here is the echo of it, 182 pages deep., shocking yes but routing is complex. but basic setup is not hard. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/360230/Msi-Rg-54g3.html at IP address 192.168.1.254 see page 10 first, how to access the build in setting page of the router. on PC uses chrome to access it or firefox v95 up do not use IE1 to 11, as it has problems now. page 10. click OK to any security certificate error do to 17 year age.

Forgot the WPA log-in

To connect your computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is configured in the Wireless settings in the Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key. When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase or WPA or WPA2 key that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_address For information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in the laptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Help?

Something internally died. if you are willing to start replacing chips inside the thing. let me know the part numbers from the chips.
If you dont want to get into surface mount soldering I would suggest canning the thing or EBAYing it as parts.

I have a 5-yr-old MSI RG54G3 whose antennae

Hey there, laptops have different Wireless cards who operate differently depending on the signal strength of your access point. Try updating the drivers for your Wireless device and if it's still the same you should use some aluminum foil on the antennae so it gives out a stronger signal.

Have fun :)

Where do you define number

This is a tricky problem. Although defining number of users (IP address) is straight forward you have a problem with the release of the address(es). First in order to answer your question in setup mode of the router you see a choice called DHCP range (ie 192.168.xxx.100 - 192.168.xxx.199). In this example you have 99 different live connections at any given moment. To reduce concurrent connections change the range to represent the number you want. In some more verbose routers you can actually define in setup mode the number of concurrent connections regardless of IP address range. Coming back to the possible problem. Say you define 10 address and someone connects with a Smart phone or laptop and then leaves. Some routers do not free the IP address rightaway. It is possible that you can have 10 people trying ot connect and the router will only give 9 untill a certain amount of time has passed to free up that disconned IP. Something to think about and keep in mind till you test the release of your routers IP's. Good Luck.

Hi, last year i bought

The real purpose of he password and WPA key is so that someone other than you, on the network, cannot change the router setting.

Since you cannot recovered the password, the easiest thing to do is to rest the router back to the factory default condition.

On the back of the router, next to the on/off switch the is a small hole about the size of a pencil lead. Just push the point of a pen or unbent paper clip in the hole , firmly for about ten seconds. This will rest the router. You can now reconfigure it an reset the password.

Lost the manual. go here and download a new one for free.http://www.msi.com/service/download/manual-3401.html

Hi there. I want to

You have to access the router page first. http://192.168.1.254. Try to use admin as username and admin as password. You can also try to put admin as username and leave blank for the password.
Once on the router's page, you will need to look for the setup wizard. For the connection type, make sure to select PPPoE and match the settings with your current ISP.
Good luck!

I have lost the pass code/security key for the Msi

The WEP, WPA, WPA2 encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the encryption key. Then go to your computer/laptop's wireless card and configure it with the router's SSID and encryption key, so it will then connect to the wireless router and the Internet.

To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security
