The solenoid that lets water into the ice maker is not working. The ice maker itself can also cause a working solenoid to malfunction.

the drain in the back of the freezer is probably full of ice. you need to pull out panel and use heat from a blow dryer to unplug the drain. then take a small gauge copper wire long enough to extend into the drain a couple of inches and loop it around the black heating element then when it goes yhrough defrost it should keep this from reaccuring

What is a short time? 5 or 6 secondswould be icemaker fill valve.Tubing in back is a common noise maker ,could be somthing hitting the condenser fan blade.

is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very,very carefully.

Sounds like the cold control has stuck . Unplug the two wires from the cold control and plug them together. Turn one wire over and plug it into the other. away from the cold control.
The cold control is the knob in the ref that turns it on and off and has numbers on it. (Thermostat)
If it runs then that cold control (Thernostat) is the problem.
If that doesn't work DO THIS:
The relay on the compressor may need replaced
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
Thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay
also try hooking the two wires together on the cold control to route around the cold control.

if the noise is that short sounds like maybe it is possible the compressor relay is bad... if your hearing a click at the end of the noise then most likely you either have a bad compressor relay or the compressor itself has failed.... this unit is common for having this problem and your short post i would say by the description that is what it would be... access the rear of refrigerator and plug it in again after it has been off for at least a hour or so ..there will be a cover at the bottom that can be removed to access the compressor area... plug unit in and place your hand on the compressor and listen if the noise is coming from there then you will need to replace the relay on it....good luck to you..

the clicking sound is the compressor trying to start . i belive that you need to reolace the relay start on the compressor . the part that maytag has on ther websight is 12002794 about 34.00 .. mm hope this helps feed back pls ..
