To determine if the LCD monitor or the video card/computer is faulty, connect the LCD monitor to a working computer. If the LCD monitor does not get a Windows image using this computer, then the LCD monitor could have a faulty inverter board or a faulty CCFL lamp.
Parts and service are available from LCD Parts, their WEB site is :-
www.lcdparts.net
If the LCD monitor is OK then the fault is with your computer.

Hi, my samsung syncmaster 214T

Hello,

Flashing or flickering is a common indication of failing capacitors in the power supply board. The fix is very simple and just requires replacing 5 capacitors on the board. They will need to be soldered. Here is a link to a repair guide for the Samsung 214T units. http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/samsung-214t-repair/

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

I have vertical banding on

either some capacitors were not replaced properly or you have nor replaced some of them.
The capacitor you need to replace will have a bulged top(swollen).

Try and change the refresh rate of your monitor by following these options--

1.) Right click on your desktop.
2.) Select Properties.
3.) Click on the Settings tab.
4.) Click on the Advanced button.
5.) Open up the Monitor tab.
6.) Manually increase the Screen Refresh Rate to 75Hz(60Hz if it is max), which is measured in Hertz

Please check out the complete procedure with pictures on this link---

It does the same when attched to another PC?
Otherwise look for bad caps with domed tops first.
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). I have 2 of the 214Ts. Neither will power up but

Open the monitor, examine the circuit boards. Look for small components that look like small cans, these are capacitors. If you see any that look bulged on top, then your problem can probably be solved by replacing these. Check out the following sites;
