I cleared a paper jam. It came out in two pieces.
When I went to print again I received the paper jam tone and LED read "Paper Jam Open back cover" I checked for more paper. Nothing, clean as a whistle. Tried to print again, no luck.
I've had several people check, no paper jam.
I put the screws to the machine, everything clear.
Every time I try to print, same thing happens, plus it makes a weird sound like the mechanism is trying to do something.
Oh and the on/off switch doesn't work. I have to unplug/plug it to get it to reset.
Also, this happened around the same time I intalled a Cyan cartridge.
Printer is less than a year old, bought new.
Can anyone help me?
Well I fixed it!!! Here's what I did. You see this picture of the cover opened? Where the arrow's pointing is the home position of the printer head. Under there I found a scrap piece of paper! Here's exactly what I did. When I got home I decided to plug it in to see if it would work, but it made the same noise and showed the same error message as before. I opened the cover as shown above. This resets it, and it says "close cover". I closed it, and AS it started to go through its routine I OPENED IT again, and I could see the printer head moving back and forth. At this point I used a flashlight to see where the home position of the Head was, and that's where I found the scrap of paper!
I unplugged it for safety and was able to remove the scrap with my fingers.
By your descriptions, referring to the other users, you just might have the same problem.

recently i found there are some problem with my all-in-on system. receiving incoming fax in the memory, displaying "memory received" but never print out.
I wonder if there is a way to retrieve fax from memory and print out manually?
In 3 second make combination on you Samsung 4521F 'Menu'-#-1-9-3-4. You will enter in tech menu. Select 'toner'-new toner-yes. You will receive faxes. It really works.

My Samsung SCX-4521 boots up and always flashes this message. I've checked the paper exit area and can't see any thing that is jammed. I've looked both in the front and the back. Could it be that a senser is malfunctioning? Any advice is appreciated.

I had this problem too. For me the answer turned out to be the paper sensor in the back part of the machine, behind the little back door just under the top part of the machine. This sensor hangs down from a thin rod that runs across the width of the machine, and is held in place by a small spring that encircles the same rod that supports the finger. The finger had apparently gotten moved so the spring was dislodged from its proper place. I was able to rotate it around the rod with my finger & get the spring moved back to where it should be. This seems to have cleared the problem--I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I have a samsung SCX-4521F and it has a cartridge in it, but it is telling me that there is no cartridge. I have tried taking the cartridge out and putting it back in and have also tried resetting it with the button on the back of the machine, but nothing seems to be working. Any ideas for me?
In the back of the printer, after you take out the back side, there is a contact with two wire: black and red. That switch is presed by the cartridge. Or you should push more the cartridge into the printer.

As Roipatrick said, for Paper Jam 1 the location of the Jam is In the fuser area or around the toner cartridge. I download the service manual from www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/download.php?id=362035 and it suggested:
1. If the recording paper is jammed in front of or inside
the fuser. -> 1. Replace the SMPS.
2. If the recording paper is stuck in the discharge roller
and the fuser just after passing through the Actuator-
Feed, Feed Actuator may be defective. ->
2. Reassemble the Actuator-Feed and Spring-Actuator
if the returning is bad.
I found if I push the paper a little bit when it goes in, it can print, so I conclude neither is correct, it is pick-up sponge needs to be replaced. It will cost about $15 parts + shipping from http://www.partstore.com/Part/Samsung/Samsung/SCX4521F/Samsung/Samsung/JC7300211A/New.aspx
So I tight a rubber bend around the roller as showed in the picture and I am printing now. :-)

My printer is showing the following error < CRU FUSE ERROR > what's this and how to solve it. Where can i locate the fuse in the printer?
i changed fuse 4521F , but : (cru fuse error) ???

I just put in a new toner cartrige, but the "Toner Empty" message is there and keeps beeping?
1- press MENU #1934 and it show you "TECH"
2- Press MENU, Acept. and it show you "Tech Mode"
3- Press < once. and it show you "NEW CARTRIDGE"
4- Press Acept. [YES].
5- Press Acept
6- Press MENU #1934 to exit "TECH MODE"
Note: Don't wait when press #1934. Do this quick.

Open heat error in my printer model SCX-4521F
open heat error sounds like the fuser lamp is blown. The fuser lamp is inside the hot roller at the back which melts the toner onto the page. It is not really a user serviceable part, you would need someone qualified to repair/replace the fuser.
