FLASH UPGRADE There are methods to update the Flash. (1) Local Machine • RCP (Remote Control Panel) mode This method is for Parallel Port or USB Port. Connect the PC and activate the RCP (Remote Control Panel) to upgrade the Firmware. < Method > How to Update Firmware using RCP 1. Connect PC and Printer with a Parallel Cable or a USB Cable. 2. Run the RCP utility and select Firmware Update. 3. Search for the Firmware file to be used to update the set using the Browse Icon. 4. Click the Update icon. The firmware file is transmitted to the Printer automatically and the printer is initialized when the download completes. 5. Click the Refresh icon and check that the updated version numbers are displayed.

If it just make tick sounds, but does not power up and does not do its normal startup, it probally the power supply board on this printer has failed. This printer like most modern electrical appliances has a switching power supply. The ticking sound is the power supply trying to start, but it senses a fault and shuts down and tries to restart.

I had a similar problem with my printer, though it not the same model (CLX-3160) but the same manufacturer Samsung. I took mine appart and found that one of the capacitors on the power supply had failed. It was blown and the top of the capacitor popped open. I am not saying this is your problem but it would be the first thing I would check if you want to get this fixed. Otherwise, look for a new printer.

if it's a vertical line in scanned pictures, it's probably a dust bunny on the scanner head, if it's only on printed pages, it's probably a dust bunny on or in the laser assembly or between the laser and the photosensitive drum. if cleaning doesn't get rid of it, you could have a defective scanner head or laser assembly, or a scratch on the photosensitive drum.

Sounds like the Photo-conductor is going bad. If it's a separate part in your printer, you just might want to change it out. Otherwise it might also be built into the toner cart, and you'll need to get a replacement toner cart. Not usual but, i've seen a few bad toner carts. Hope this points you in the right direction. Its strange, but try take away the fuser from the cartrige

Probaly you have to change the cartrige.

replace the fuser

Clean the document laying flat glass with micro fiber cloth. Pull out the toner/drum assrmbly and clean the drum with same cloth. Turn the drum using black circular dial on the side and clean it. Do not touch the drum. Also, change the toner cartridge if you have not for long time. This mostly happens when the cartridge is about to run out of toner ink powder. hope this helps.
