Uh oh. Does it do that for all inputs or just in TV tuner mode? Because that might tell you if just one part is going bad ... eg an HDMI input or component input, or just the tuner?

Could try it on a computer as well ... see if it's SVGA computer input gives a picture.

Check power supply for swollen capacitor and replace them as needed. Are you getting tv menu?

Well - three things.
1) Bring it in and pay for labor and parts 'new screen'
2) Call your home insurance person and check your pollicy for the clause of accidental damage. You just may get a check 'not for full amount' but enough to buy you another one.
3) live with the issue. Screen's not grass and it doesn't grow back or fix itself.
You know what !
#4: Sell it on E-bay or Craigs list. Many of these TV's have power supply problems and your TV's power supplies are just fine.

I'm sorry to say, yes and no. Yes it can be replaced. No, the cost is just about as much as a new set.

Hello: In standard defintion the picture is showing in 480p which is the lowest resolution for LCD televisions, The picture will only look as good as the signal its getting, If you have cable then it should look some what better even with std defintion. The Diamonds/triangles are caused from a weak digital signal or weak broadcast station. This is a normal occurance for LCD televisions as the picture is put on the screen in blocks. I would not say your television is bad, just a poor or weak signal, If you are using a digital antenna and not cable, then you might try purchasing a signal amplifier to boost the signal before going into the set.

While it is playing, sound that is, try holding a flash light right up next to the sceen, preferably in a dark room, and see if you have any picture. You really have to focus on it and watch closely. If you can see any picture, you probably have a bad inverter. The inverter lights the back lights in the panel to illuminate the picture. The flash light basically does the same thing from the front. The inverter is the board on the far right with several of the same kind of wires disapearing down the side. Thanks. Let me know what you find.

Unfortunately this is an issue cause by a failure of the LCD panel. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole LCD display panel. If you are still covered under warranty, call up Samsung to have them schedule a service call to fix the TV. Otherwise I would not recommend repair of the TV because the part usually costs about $1000 and the whole TV needs to be taken apart to replace the part.

Your inverter circuits and/or power board need servicing.....

Either three fault scenarios are happening:

1. the inverter circuits are not producing AC ripple too the CCFL lamps that illuminate the LCD glass panel.

2. the power supply board is not feeding 24vdc - 12vdc sustain voltage too the inverter circuits. Meaning, no dc high voltage output from the power board.

3. The timing control circuit (LCD Board) has shorted switching devices or on-board memory has failed....which causes data/dc loss at the input which results in the inverters canceling load power (lamps). The sync data between inverter and LCD Board are absent. This will result in a 'NO LIGHT' condition on the LCD display.

Number 3 is a rare case, its usually #1 the inverters need servicing.....

If you get the vertical lines from the top all the way down to the bottom of the screen, it can be two things: the LCD panel is bad (very expensive) or the LCD panel driver board.

its possible you have a power supply problem
but would have to be broken down and diagnosed to board level replacement
you will probably want to enlist the help of a local for this set

This is a brand new TV. The first 100 hours it shuts down and a Service Tech will but a new chip set in. This is how it is calibrated by Samsung. Don't worry, the new chip set is a lot better. Let me know if you just bought this TV? If it has already been calibrated, I'll troubleshoot it for you.

sounds like the lcd panel is beginning to fail. you will need a tech to figure out if it is the panel, main board or lvds cable. Last time I saw this it was the panel.

I will suggest that you call Samsung 1-800-726-7864 and ask that they extend the warranty on your TV to cover the repair. I understand there is a class action suit due to many consumers having the same problem with this model TV set. At times they will pay for the complete repair and other times they will pay for the part and let the consumer be responsible for the labor. The part that normally causes this problem will cost about $300 and the labor is about the same amount.

This happens on our samsung too with some dvd's.
It is not the tv's fault (in my case) but have to turn the volume button on the dvd remote up full first then adjust from the tv remote as required.

On the back of the TV there should be a variable audio out this will control the volume level on the speakers or at least it should

if you have the backlight on but no image it could be the main board but if you don't have the backlight you have a problem with your LCD panel
the panel comes with the T-con board and the Inverter board
