Make sure your camcorder is oon camera mode(when you can shoot videos) then finalize shoukd be written in black.

There is a problem with the units firmware and thereby not writing the disc information correctly. This can be fixed by download and installing the latest firmware update.

You can find the firmware update at this link. You MUST choose the first listed update (size 0.39 mb) as this address the compatibility issue with particular discs

I think i just figured it out. Somewhere else on the web clued me in that the disc got messed up (don't know how). I put in a new disc and it works. Other disc still doesn't though.

Downloading the manual and drivers are easily found by simply Googling you camera and adding either driver or manual to the end but to get the original DVD with all the software you would have to contact Samsung themselves or their agent. It will of course cost you but not too much I'd imagine. Anoother way is to keep a check on Ebay and if you see the same model for sale send the seller an email and offer him say $10 to copy the disk and send it to you. Some camera sellers on Ebay are actually large stores so they could well have a spare they can send you. Just don't expect anything for free and offer to pay. Who knows you may end up getting it for free anyway.

Yes it can be repaired . but it's better to take it to a repair shop with the flew off button .

The ports options on the SC-DC164 are generally good. In a hard plastic port cover located just behind the LCD cavity, you’ll find a high-speed USB 2.0 connection ..so if you have the cable ...and the disk that came with the camera ..connect the camera on the pc..and it will ask to install when it sees it ..insert the driver/software disk ..and install it ...in this moment you have connectivity (after restart computer )..if the installation came with a software ...the actual importing is made by this software ..if it is just a driver ..you need a manager software to import and manage the files..
on the review about this camcorder says that it cams with the usb cable and the software cd ..if you do not have it ..let me know and i will look for a replacement download ..
so ...insert teh disk and run it (better autorun cause will install all the features) ...after that restart the pc ..insert the cable and run the wizard that pops up to install the driver ..
after that either wil auto run a action tab ...or you just open the manager and choose import from device ..or whatever is there to mean this action ..

Your having the same problem I'm having. I am 80% sure its a bad power switch. I havent been able to find where to buy a replacement yet. Good Luck!
