Samsung Digimax A503 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Pictures at night have blotchy circles on
If you are using digital zoom, not optical, the image processor in the camera has to extrapolate data from the surrounding pixels. In good light, this gives acceptable results, but at night when (as you may have noticed) it is darker, it encounters problems and does the best it can.
Camera has a black screen when turned on
In some cases there are only oxidized battery contacts, to treat with a little bit sillicon grease on the battery contacts gives a long lasting protect against. moist., otherwise there could bad soldering but in practice i have never on camera,s have problems with it BUT another suggestion are the little motors to operate the diaphragm and zoom mechanic can be the problem if its hanging and if one of the motors is hanging there could be a miss timing and then the electronical protection turns it off off. was my first Samsung experience with a camcorder of the brand 23 years ago there could be a dirty mode select switch or little microswitch on it, but in most cases the batteries.
My samsung digimax 503 has a white screen!
Oh my gosh this really works! Our screen went white, we hadn't dropped it or anything. The camera still worked fine but we just couldn't see what we were taking a picture of. We tried this solution and now we can see the picture through the screen perfectly. THANKS for posting this!
I can't switch on my camera so can you tell me
The manual says: if the camera does not turn on after you have inserted battery, lease check whether the battery are inserted with correct polarity (+/-)Never use unnecessary force to put the battery in the chamber. If you are not sure the battery is still ok, try two other batteries type AA. The camera will work with non rechargeable alkaline batteries and will work with rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. When the battery chamber is open, please check if the metal connection point are not corroded and clean. You still can find the manual online and the thing I describe here is on page 8
Card is locked
SD/SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
My Digimax A503 camera keeps coming up on screen
Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera
which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the
camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with
a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush,
steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen
into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of
the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears
the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may have
a problem that requires professional repair.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as
Picasa.
