Other way to sync the yp-z5 withought windows media player

Here is the user manual for your player if you need it; http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/200601/20060124115711375_YPZ5-USA-ENGLISH-0.0.pdf Page 18 states that you can only sync with wmp 10, there is no alternative software that will do the job. Hope this helps :)

Is there a docking station for the Samsung YP Q1

got a chance to check out Samsung's new lineup of gadgets and gizmos this week and was very impressed with their upcoming Samsung MM-X5 MP3 Player Docking Station. It plays content from MP3 players, including any generation Apple iPod as well as CDs. The device has a built-in USB port that allows for instant music file playback from a standard USB memory drive as well, so if you're too lazy to put your music on your player you can just plug in your flash drive.

The MM-X5 comes in Samsung's token piano finish black and unlike some of the more simple docks on the market features a built-in display and an alarm that lets consumers select songs to wake up to. It features built-in 20 Watt speakers (10 Watts each), combined with Samsung's Digital Natural Sound engine technology. Available this October for $199.

Samsung YP-z5 won't connect to the PC!

This might help getting it connected to the computer.

UMS mode allows the Z5 to interface to the computer as if it were a removable hard drive. You can then use Windows File Explorer to manage the files in the Z5.

To get into UMS mode, connect the Z5 to the USB port while simultaneously holding down the "return" button (the top of the square keypad) while connecting. This will put the player into UMS mode for that connection period only.

If you upgrade to the new firmware, you have the option of making it always connect in UMS mode.

The steps to install the latest firmware are:
(1) Download version 2.37 or newest of the Z5 firmware http://www.samsung.com.

(2) Unzip it to get the file named "Z5Update.dat".

(3) Disconnect the Z5 from the USB port.

(4) Reconnect the Z5 to the USB port while simultaneously holding down the "return" button (the top of the square keypad) while connecting. This will put the player into UMS mode for that connection period only.

(5) Open a File Explorer window, and find the YP-Z5 device.

(6) At this point, make sure the Z5 is fully charged and has at least 30MBytes of free space.

(7) Copy the file "Z5Update.dat" to the root directory of the YP-Z5 device.

(8) Now disconnect the Z5 from the USB port.

(9) The Z5 will display the option to upgrade to the new software, or to cancel.

(10) Select "Upgrade". This will power off the Z5.

(11) Connect the USB cable to the Z5. Now it will upgrade the firmware under USB power. DO NOT DISCONNECT THE USB UNTIL THE UPGRADE FINISHES. After finishing the upgrade, new firmware will be started automatically.

(12) Check the version information in the "Settings > System Info > Version" tab.

Now you can turn on the UMS only option.
Settings / System Info / UMS Only = On

Docking station for MP3 players

I don't understand people, why pay for a docking station... when all you need is a connector from you headphone input on the player to your stereo or boom-box which has an auxiliary input. The plug you can get at any store and it only cost about 3 - 10 dollars. The plug has the same end you use on your headphones and the other end is the same as the input connectors for your stereo unit. That end would have the 2 connectors (usually red and white) that you use when connecting units to your stereo's auxiliary input. Connect and listen to your music.

Or you can buy and fm transmitter for your player and listen to your music via a fm radio station. Cost about $20 or more... depending on the name brand.

Wite screen

use a small paper clip and just to the side of the connection for the usb port on the player, you will see a little hole.... only large enough for a small needle...or a small paper clip end.. stick it in there and push one time.. and you will either feel it click or hear a click and your player screen should go blank.. you just reset the program in your player and this should solve your problem.

Down scroll

Try reseting the player. It might not work all the time, but this was the first time my down scroll ever locked up on me, and the reset button fixed the problem. It might just be a temporary solution, but at least it's something.
